I have a D-16 Y-7 Motor in my 89 civic. I need to know how many degrees each timing mark is.. I need to retard my timing by 3 degrees.. I'm not sure how far to go or which way.. Any help someone would give would be greatly appreciated...

 

Each timing mark is one degree...to retard, you turn the distributor the same direction the engine rotates. To advance, you turn towards the direction the engine rotates

 

if the pulley is directly in front of u the middle mark should be 16* and the mark to the right of it is14* so go a tad past the mark to the right..

 

wait a minute... are you talking about cam timing or ignition timing?

and why is this posted in the FI forum?
