Default Oil leak around Distributor - Pictures added

motor: d15b6, stock 89 crx hf

i think its leaking from the dizzy. i did some searches and looks like i might have to replace the dizzy o-ring which i already ordered. havent taken apart the dizzy yet. i also took some pictures of where the leak is from and also pics from under the car where its dripping some oil. just wanted some additional thoughts.

thanks in advance,

haha, i can always use a 2nd opinion!

i opened the dizzy cap (after reading this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1785447) after posting this and i saw no oil in the cap or the dizzy. i also popped open the valve cover to see of any leaks but didnt see any.

does that i mean i have to replace the internal seal inside distributor itself?

Agreed, less than $1 and 5 mins to fix, no big deal

It cost me $1.56 at cost+10% from a dealership... But none the less, tis easy to change. The oil all over the bottom of your engine looks like you have bigger problems than just your dist. O-ring leaking. Might want to check your oil pan gasket as a start.

Yea start with the valvecover and pan if the leak still persists then your rear main seal is most likely leaking also.

O-ring is probably the cause, I couldn't find the damn leak, looked in the cap, replaced the ring and havent had any problems yet

Thanks guys. I got the o-ring today but had a real hard time loosening the top nut (out of the 3 that hold the distributor in place to the block), so I gave up.

Any ideas on how I can get that nut off?

use something for leverage...breaker bar of some sort. Vise grips and hammer is kind of hap hazard...if nothing else hit your ratchet, wrench, BB whatever you were using with a hammer...Vise grips can slip way easier and chew up the thread Common sense 101...and gl to you

You can try using some PB Blaster then go at it again with a cheater bar (length of pipe) attached to your ratchet or a breaker bar to give it that extra torque.

Make sure to use a 6 point socket. A12 point may slip uder heavy torque, leading to a stipped bolt.

lol a f'in floorjack handle for a 8mm bolt, get your weight up. Use a fresh pair of vice grips if you have to go that far, it will grip perfect.
