help! crank oil seal gone, anything to do with turbo?
hi guys/gals
im after some help ive got a uk dc2 integra turbod, pushing about 400bhps.
my crank oil seal seems to have failed gearbox side,
now, whats the likely cause of this?
the engine went through a complete rebuild about a year an half ago.
did they not fit the seal correctly?
is it just wanna those things?
or has the turbo done any thing to cause it ie pressures etc, im sure the PCV valve has had the mod done to deal with the exra pressue.
your help much apricated

could possibly be the pcv setup. When you say it was modded, what do you mean?
It also could be that they didn't install in 100% correctly (the little lip on the inside might have sorta binded and over time leaked) but usually when this happens, due to the pressue, it leaks immediately!
Luckily, it is a pretty easy fix, but you do have to pull the timing belt off to fix it.
all this was assuming timing belt side, you don't mean rear main seal do you?

well...then you need to pull the transmission off and replace the gasket behind the flywheel.
aside from having to take off tranny/clutch, I think this gasket is easier to replace personally.
Maybe you don't have enought ventilation? I have two -12 an lines off the front of my valvecover and two large lines off the plugs on the back of the block.
