Default Doing my own EG sidemarker install v.firsttimeiveusedadremel

Soo, im going to be attempting to do my own sidemarker install in just a couple of hours. I ordered them off password with the wiring harness included. I bought a dremel (old one took a **** about a year and a half ago, and never had a reason to buy a new one) the other night with some reinforced cutting discs at Lowes for only $80. This will be the first time i'll ever cut something with a dremel that wasnt just a straight forward cut something in half lol. Im nervous, but confident that im not going to screw up, I've been practicing with some sidemarker templates on a sheet of metal for about 3 weeks now, cutting out the same pattern over and over, and now i'll attempt my fenders. Anyone have any final suggestions/comments/concerns/tips before I do this? Oh yeah, if everything comes out perfect, i'll be taking pics to make a final once and for all detailed write-up on sidemarkers on an EG.

$5 say I make a thread in 5 hours titled: WTB EG fenders.

Dont forget to tape around the area that you will be cutting..it will help a lot in case your dremel will run away from your template...again good luck..its easier than you think it is!!! Just be patient!!!

Seriously? Damn $40? I called around at first, and almost all the shops said they wouldnt do it, and the shops that said they would wanted to charge over $100. I'd rather do it myself anyway, better sense of pride I suppose.

you will have a much easier time, cutting the fenders with metal nibblers, instead of a dremel.
Yes, it will take longer, but it will come out better too.
(they sell them at radio shack for cheap)

Oh, and you got ripped off on passwords wiring harness too....sorry, but its true

I've been using the dremel as practice on some metal sheets for the last few weeks, at first I was like damn this is going to take me an hour to do. Now its like I can punch out a template in like 5 minutes. lol

same concept of cutting!!! Just use whatever you comfortable with! Since majority is saying the metal nibbler is easy, might want to use those. But I used the dremmel on mine no problem!

Did you print out and use that template? Will it work with the side markers from Password?

Well, update on my side marker install. I got them done today, I took a **** ton of pics, but much to my dismay, they came out too dark for some reason, im gonna try and have a friend lighten them up with photoshop. As for the install, it went well, I will say that the EG template I got off HT didnt work too well with the Stanley's. The template was too small, so I spent a good half hour slowely resizing and grinding the edges of the hole to make the side marker fit. In the end, it all went well, got them wired up which was to my surprise a breeze using wire taps from radioshack.

Only thing I have to figure out now is why in the world my passenger side blinker blinks at 56484648 times a second now. Its WAY faster than the driver's side blinker which is gay. I think the problem was that I cut thru the black wire, but then realized its not what I wanted to do, so I ended up redoing it, but I dont think I covered up the exposed portion of the wire with electrical tape. Any other ideas as to why its blinking so fast? I did a search, but most say its a short, or blown bulb.

In the end, they look awesome, and im super proud of myself for gathering the ***** to cut into my fender! lol

I'll get the pics up tomorrow. As far as the ones I took actually doing the job, I'll have to wait to have my friend lighten them up. The job came out awesome dude, honestly, the hard part was getting the right measurments from the internet. The cutting which I used a dremel, was awesome, it cut thru the metal like butter.
