Default HID Kit

Im about to pick up my new civic and considering getting an HID kit. Yes i have researched and looked into the retrofitting option but im not going down that route.

What I am mainly concerned about is whether I should be using a wiring harness with an HID kit when installing them in the car.

Also, there seems to be many HID kit vendors on this website. Does anyone have any suggestions?

xenondepot.com.

Done. (still recommend not doing plug and play.) Retro is the only safe option.

Yes, but you still get a side glare. You can adjust that out a little too though.

Im not disputing that a properly done retro isnt ideal however Im just not prepared to go down that route rigth now as I do not want to modify my stock housings at the moment.

Im planning on doing the xenondepot 4300k or 6000k kit. Ive seen some reviews and pictures on 8thgen and people seem to be really happy with the output. I was just concerned about whether a harness is needed.

True its does cost a pretty penny but your going to spend 400 dollars on kit that i would much rather buy a intake,header,under brace, stuff along those lines rather than anoy the hell outta people on da road and not to mention look kinda ricey.

minim3,
I've been down that road already. I've spent a small fortune modifying my previous Honda. All im doing to this car is HIDs (probably going to go with the xenondepot kit). Intake, header, exhaust etc... was fun but honestly, the last thing I would do on this car at this point in my life is performance modifications. Dont get me wrong, to each their own... whatever makes you happy All I know is that I had a PNP kit on my previous car (Integra) and I cannot live without HIDs. The difference really is night and day.

</TD></TR></TABLE>depending on what kit you purchase
pretty sure most (if not all) kits will provide you the harness, ballast, bulbs, mounting brackets, everything you need besides your tools
i currently have 6000k now, i'm happy with it
love the color and the visibility
but if i was to purchase another kit, i would go with 4300
just to get more visibility out of it and to not feel as "ricey"

I just got done installing a HID kit on a 07 SI both high/low beams. Because of the daytime driving lights the HID's will strobe like a cop car until the lights are turned on. They look kick ***. We are lookinginto ficxing this problem. We also supercharged it and did some other stuff as well. check it out.

You sure you don't want to go retro? You got to admit, they look pretty awesome.

i have done the plug and play kit route on my previous car. I had the XenonDepot 4k kit with the stock headlights. Properly beamed and adjusted and never had any problems with them.

Here is a picture of the 4k kit, hopefully it helps you decide on what colour temperature would suit your needs best.

I miss that car

disable the DRL and you'll be fine.
I still fail to understand why you went with HID's on the hi beams. Your bulb will pretty much burn in a couple of months and your ballast will die due to the low and high voltage going to them for the DRL's...

like you said in your first sentance. disable the drl and you'll be fine. the lights must be so freakin bright at night with the hid's in the highs as well as the lows. can't imagine being on the other side of it if you accidently forget they are on

bulbs = 30
ballasts = 140
tsx projectors = 120
shrouds = 30
Total cost if you do it yourself = 310
Add 300 if you want customlightz or caveman to do it = 610...
The 1k people speak about is pretty much for brand new 400 ballasts from xenon depot, another set of headlights to keep, and many other factors...

i'd do it if i were mechanically capable of doing it myself...

but i'm not a big fan of messing with the housing and stuff myself.

being from canada, it'd probably cost me 1k to do a retro..

i just got a techone kit off one of the HT sponsors.. installed that.

i didn't even have to aim the head lights down or anything (just left them to whatever setting stock was). i haven't been high beamed, and drove by plenty of cops... no VI tix yet!! i'd say 230 well spent.. seeing how changing the stock bulbs would involve basically the same process of installing the HIDs

funny thing is that many 8th gen owners in bC have retro-ed their headlights and have helped each other on the process lol
but yeah im not here to flame or tell people to switch over to a retro but rather that a pnp kit is a slight upgrade from halogens...
And i was responding to Will since he said he couldnt believe people spending 1K on a retro when in reality many have spent less than 700...
and to the other guy that he's killing his bulbs for putting HID's on his highs while keeping the DRL's.
If you think 230 for a kit is money well spent then hooray?
