I have a 96 and a 06. To me a lot of the nice features of the 96 they removed and replaced with things I don't like on the 06 but then again the 06 rides a lot nicer and has a lot more power. Of course it's a v6 and the 96 is a 4cyl. IMO they are both good cars. I'd prefer the power and ride of the 06 in the 96 body.

In which ways. What years? What models? C'mon man gotta be a little bit more specific than that.

differences between a 5th gen and 7th gen

I4 engine 21-26 HP more depending upon model
V6 engines 70-74 HP more depending upon year

EPA from small car to medium size based upon interior size

fuel ecomomy is better
better audio
better A/C
more options like heated seats
quieter

Longevity? since they use the same 5spd at as the 00-03 CL/TL I doubt that it will be as reliable as the 5th gen

I like my 5th gen and it was the first car I ever paid for with about 30% help from my parents. Its great on gas and most of the problems are diagnosed accurately.

It gets me around the city and doesn't break the bank at the pump. Crash testing......errr you might want to invest in some protective reinforcements to the passenger/back seat.

As far as reliability goes, I've never had a problem with it. Lately, I've needed something more along the lines of a truck so the Accord will be put to rest eventually in the backyard or I might give it to a family member in about 2 years.

If you aren't drag racing from every stop light, the HP rating is not a valid concern.
the 94-97 Accords are built very well, and there are loads of them still on the roads with 1/4 to 1/2 million miles on them.
In 1998 Honda turned over the production to the "Product Cheapening Dept." LOL
I'd say a 94-97 with proper maint will still be running and road worthy when the 02-05 Accords are being put into the junkyard crusher.
