Question about rear bumper support for CRX.
Ok so I've been wading through the search results looking for an answer to what I'm looking for and some info but not quite exactlty what I was looking for. My question is simple:
Will an 88-89 CRX rear bumper support work on a 90-91?
My car is Si but I don't think that makes a difference besides the fact that the HF rear bumper supports seem to be much lighter. Thanks in advance!

im pretty sure the bumper support is the same since the bumper cover itself is pretty much the same design minus a lip that is sort of at the bottom and the trim is thinner.
Well that's what I was thinking that but on hondaautomotiveparts.com the part numbers for 88-89 and 90-91 are different...
I believe that they are the same. If not, they are damn close.
I checked the catalog here at work, and it does show 2 different part numbers...but with as little change done to the car, they should be interchangeable.
Im not 100% positive though. Ya might wanna do a bit more digging on this.

Yea I see they are 2 different part numbers but I know that the rear bumpers from 88-91 are pretty much the same. Meaning they are interchangable. IDK, I am right now taking my 90 one off and I am going to go get my 89 one to see if they will work.

Yea, I think thats the only way we'll be 100% sure. Have em both side by side and compare.

NP. I am having problems getting the rear bumper support off though. I had to come back upstairs here to find out how the hell I remove it. After alittle searching I read there are bolts in the interior I have to remove. Shew....I almost got out the saw.

haha, yea I had a little trouble with mine too.
I got the two inside, but the lower 4 that are under the car threw me off for a sec.

Well guys I finally have the answer. Now that my finger tips hurt from removing some hard to reach bolts I am done. I first started with my Si, which I thought was rust free. Was I wrong...The bumper support was rusted pretty badly, it had two big holes in it from rust. You have to remove two screws on the inside and two on the outside to get the bumper support off(12mm bolts).
When I got to my Hf I figured it was going to be ate up with rust too, but actually there was only some small surface rust. I should be able to sand it down and give it a fresh coat of paint later. I had a hard time getting the bumper off of the bumper support because those stupid phillips head screws kept stripping.
Everything went on pretty easily though. It just popped right on....here the picture to prove!

O by the way the Hf one is ALOT lighter.

HF and Si rear bumper supports are like 5 lbs vs 25lbs difference.
HF just doesnt have any core reinforcement that the Si has. Its just a shell of a frame.

Yep. I seen where you posted that before. I figured they would work the same.

Good work man
Looked up the part numbers for these here in the catalog at work for those who were curious...
The 88-89's have a diff. with the HF, but the 90-91 are all the same though.
88-89:
SI/DX: 3020807 ~ (71530-SH2-A01)
HF: 2783116 ~ (71530-SH2-A20)
90-91:
SI/HF/DX: 3327186 ~ (71530-SH2-A02)

oops! fixed it too
Mine was also rusted out pretty bad when I took mine off. So I think Ill have to go with the HF as the replacement
Its lighter, and cheaper!!
This is good to know, cause I was planning on converting everything to a 90-91 (body wise) for my blade silver rex.

Seems like you got the answers, but I'll just get my post count up by saying I have a 90-91 bumper and support on my 88. No problems
