Default Skunk2 stage 1 vs. stage 2

Hi im new to the all motor forum and i am goin to have some work done to my 2001 gsr. I am getting itr pistons, portflow valvetrain, and tuned along with i/im/h/e. What would be the best cams to get for a dd setup. Skunk2 stage 1 or 2. Also will i need rods or should i be fine. Thanks

The original Skunk2 Stage 1 cams are very mild. A tad bit more aggressive compared to stock ITR/CTR cams.

The original Stage 2's are very consistent power makers. Good topend, mild mid range.

I would look into some newer cams, like the Pro line of Skunk2 cams or Rocket M22X.

This is true! I also think that using Skunk2 valvetrain is the way to go if you're using their cams.

I do not have any personal experience with Portflow springs or retainers. I've heard good things, but from what I remember, they aren't the stiffest spring on the market.

We run Supertech valvesprings Part Number - SPR-H100DR, they've been good on my car with BC5's and Pro2's spinning to 9500rpm's.

Choose whichever brand you wish. Just know that we've run SuperTech products in most our builds without any problems...from 280whp N/A motors to 800whp turbo motors.

bro i had skunk2 s.2 on my last set up and they were ill cams, but you're compression might not be high enough to make the most of those cams...if i were you i would get the skunk 2 pro series or buddy clubs IV ...yeah i also had those supertech valve springs and retainers...they were dope no problems...but they do recommend to run skunk products with skunk products...

I remember Rocket testing these and actually them being the second best in his test. I know this was a WHILE ago. Anyone who's been here a while remember the spring test he did a while back and can back me up?

The portflow spring and retainer set-up is a deal at $315 right from them for a good valvetrain.

I feel like 11.5.1 compression should be written. Every thread I see everyone seems to thrive for that magical number now, a year or two ago everyone was shooting for 12.5.1 compression. I wonder what magical number 2008......will hold.
