I also found a '99 EX sedan with 178k for $5,000. All records, one owner since new, never been in a wreck.

 

Thats alot of miles. If I am spending $5k, I wouldnt want anything over 120k miles. 178k miles ~= 180,000 miles. Thats 20k miles away from 200,000 miles. Thats about 1 1/2 years away. If you buy a car with around 100k miles, with proper maintenance, it should be able to make it over 200k with no problems, but with someone else bringing it up to that high of a mileage, without proper care, you have no idea how long it is going to last.
