Throwout Bearing
Hey Everyone. I used to have a 93 Del Sol Si and whenever I started the car up, I always heard a metal-like shaking sound when i released the clutch. I knew it was the throwout bearing. I was (and still am) a broke *** college student. So I knew about a throwout bearing being like 50 bucks and having to replace it a biotch. So I let the problem go on and on Dec 30th of last year, the car broke down in a Wal-Mart parkin lot. Couldnt engage the clutch at all to put it into gear. So to make a long story short, sold that car and ended up buying a 93 civic hatch with a d16z6 swap. I bought the car and soon afterward noticed the same sound. I know the clutch was replaced last year but i am guessing the guy that did it did not replace the throwout bearing. I know for a fact that I dont want to be in the same situation all over again. I dont have the know how (time or place) to disassemble my tranny from the block and replace the th. out bearing. So my question is where can someone go to have a job done like this for not a lot of money? I mean, i dont have the money to spend to get ripped off, so i need to find somewhere that it can be done for under 180 bucks. Ideas? Thanks a lot.
Well i went to honda and they want an arm and a leg to do everything. They wont just replace the throwout bearing. So what am i supposed to do now? This is my third car in less than a year and i dont want to keep buying cheap cars but i dont have any other choice. I dont have a good amt of money for a decent honda and i need to have a car. I live 3.5 hours from home and I need a way to get back and forth. I also have a job to keep. So what do i do? PLEASE HELP!!
