Well, I just made a 15 year old's dream come true
I did the unthinkable yesterday. I sold my 2001 phoenix yellow integra type R #031. I’m a little in shock that I actually sold her. A little background.
I purchased the car about 1.5 years ago and it was my absolute favorite car ever. I had to drive from Pittsburgh PA to Nashua New Hampshire to pick her up. I can remember when we finally got to the dudes house who was selling it, and he opened the garage. I got that feeling in my stomach (no need to elaborate) and I was smiling from ear to ear. I remember driving it home and was constantly looking in the rearview mirror and absolutely loving the fact that there was a big *** phoenix yellow wing obstructing my view.
After modding the hell out of my previous Integra GSR, I was going to try and keep this car stock (car was in fact never modded). Everyone on this board seemed to stress that the type R is a great car stock, and nothing is needed. After doing several autocrosses and the Type R expo I couldn’t agree more. There was no way in hell I would be able to out drive this machine. After doing several autocrosses and the expo is where I really appreciated what the type R was made for. I honestly don’t think you can find a car in its class that can match what the R is capable of. I remember after autocrosses and the track event people were telling me how well I did for a beginner, and I had to stress to the people that the car is responsible for 90% of what I did. I have never in my life found such a great balance of handling and speed. The type R cannot be beat.
So fast forward to my senior year at Penn State as an Engineering major. I graduate in May and I already had a full time position landed since November. I don’t know if I’m turning into an old man or not, but the R is still in my “want” category, and a house is in my “need” category. So seeing the opportunity I had to sell her, I sadly let her go. I’m trying to not be like all my friends that are doing the “I just got out of college and I’m going to buy a brand new 40k car” I have a 1992 Accord that does me just fine.
Interesting story about who I sold the car to. One of my roommates is family connected to the Hershey/M&M Mars family. I nonchalantly let him know that I was thinking about selling my car and he said his cousin was interested. So I found out that one of the head honchos at M&M Mars, Frank Mars himself was looking to purchase my R for his son. The family probably are billionaires and his son could probably have any car he wanted and he chose to get an R, and I thought that was cool. So he flew in to Pittsburgh on a business trip, came to look at the car and cut me a check, just like that. Fast forward to yesterday and the kid I live with drove down with me, and was going to drive it back to Hershey for his cousin. Easiest car selling experience ever. Zero hassle.
Watching the car leave was pretty hard on me. The way the sun was shining on the paint made it look so good; I know I will miss the car.
But I wanted to say thank you guys for everything. I met a ton of great people at the expo, and sooner or later I will be back I hope. Take care.

does it matter if he does? if story is accurate then he could crash all the ITR's in the USA and still be fine financially
if he was smart he'd crash all of them but 1 and then sell that 1 for eleventy billion dollars

Growing up and being responsible sucks donkey *****.
Kudos to you for having the cojones to sell your R to get a house (which is an appreciating asset unlike a car).
Glad to hear your R goes to someone who will have fun with it.
Next car for you: 2009 Nissan GTR

Nice.
My friend had the same experience.. he had some guy call him out of the blue and pull up in a Bentley Continental GT with his son. Took his chequebook out of his trunk and wrote him his asking price after the testdrive.
Late found out he also had a Aston Martin Vanquish

Damn, I was just about to call "Dateline NBC: To Catch a Predator"
Enjoy your next car. Make sure it has cruise control and better cupholders, you won't miss the ITR so much that way

Kinda off topic, but who cut you the check? Was he a Mars family member? Just curious since I work for them
They're a good family though so your ITR should be good hands....

You know he is probably going to rice it out and violate it in almost every fathomable way that there is?
I'm not saying that all 15 year olds are that way, but a 15 year old thats parents are that rich? Like sending pigs to the slaughter.
