Aftermarket Radio in 94-97 Accord
if you cage it straight through the radio/shifter bezel its possible there will be enough room for a metra univ. pocket to snap in below it id say yes you could do it. ive put a kenwood ddx-6019 in like that before in those year accords. just cage it and go. now its not the most secure method, versus a dash kit that bolts up down in the bottom, but yes it would work.
Hint... the stock pocket is mounted to the stock HU. both are held in place with the 2x8mm machine screws that go through the stock rear support dash sub frame bracket into a "lip" on the bottom of the stock HU.
So the trick becomes how to attach the stock pocket to the aftermarket HU, nothing a few custom brackets made from something like this... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...=BS18
The sides of the aftermarket HU are filed with "ISO" mount screw holes, to mount the straps to, the pocket has two stock holes and screws, at least one more has to be drilled in the back of the pocket, or one on each side, so pocket can be firmly attatched to aftermarket HU, use the aftermarket HU's rear support mounting hole to attach an "L" bracket so HU can be attached to the stock rear support bracket.
BTW, Honda was kind enough to install a hole/slot right in the center of the stock rear support bracket, [even though they do not use it].
This may also help... http://www.installdr.com/Insta...7.pdf
Because you are making custom brackets you can adjust how far in or out the face of the HU sits, I have set the HU back far enough so I can place the face of the stock HU over the aftermarket HU, [when face plate is removed] making the whole thing look stock.
