anybody ever done this? i just read a post about doin this the legit way in CA but i know there are a variety of tricks to do to get around installing the parts that are missing on JDM motors..i mean cant everyone just use a 98usdmITR ecu and do katmans ckf trick(tap into the CKP signal) and kenji's vtec pressure trick (taps into the solenoid signal) then all you need is the purge solenoid (drill and tap the JDM mani for a fitting)and to wire up the extra o2 sensor?? i know this will not pass in CA but will it pass in less strict states like CT, NJ or NY??

 

All they do in CT is a sniffer.

 

i thought the pluged into the 96+ to check emissions systems for ready signals??

If you don't have any CEL's ... then that shouldn't be a problem.

 

Incorrect. 96+ gets an OBD scan where the emissions software scans your ECU's readiness monitors.

IIRC, if a monitor reports an error, or if 2 cannont be read, you are subjected to a sniffer test.

Ahh. I'm just used to talking emissions with my friend who owns an EG.

 

so top shotta...have you ever heard of these tricks? do you think it would be a problem with emissions doin these splices to trick the ecu? the voltage to the ckf and the ckp would be the same...would that matter?

 

Might work, but I'm not 100% sure. This is one of the issues that came to mind when my shop started emission testing. Most of the time, if an ecu cannot be read, or is not ready, the car is subject to the sniffer test.

Try it and find out.

 

so you sayin it might even be possable to pass the test with the jdm ecu if i can pass a sniffer?
