Default Infinity Reference Speakers

I bought them last week at best buy, Very Nice, they sound amazing, they have pivoting tweeters, i listend to my stock speakers for about an hour on various songs and volumes, then i listend to them after the install, I could only turn up the volume to about 22 before the stock speakers would get distorted

I can now turn em up all the way without any distortion

you should have gone with the kappas, its pure delight.

the kappas **** quality and excellence with 0% distortion. im pushing 110 watts rms to each of my 4 infinity kappas. its pure delight.

3-ways of course, no sense in only buying a 2-way speaker.

kappas are nice but you need to have a powerful amp for them, about 100rms per channel.

I have the Alpine Type-R Component set(got them a while ago) powering them with the Alpine MRV-F350 and they sound really nice

i'd say its the exact oposite. theres no sense in buying a 3way speaker. more isn't always better.

The kappa's are on the lower end of the scale in terms of their sound quality. While they're not terrible speakers, they're nothing to brag about and chances are your speakers are rarely seeing 110Watts.

So far I've switched all of my factory speakers to Infinity Reference. 6.5" Components in the front, and 6x9 3-ways on the rear deck. It sounds absolutely amazing, and I'm using under powered amps as well. 22 watts, and 30 watts on the deck. I'm hoping to get a 4 channel Infinity amp soon with around 100 watts RMS to just drive all of them.

I've got a question now that I think about it. When I do get another amp, should I get 2 2 channel amps or just one 4 channel? I keep bouncing back and forth so I thought I'd ask the pros. And also, I'm going to be running like 2 guage wire to my trunk and splitting off 8 guage to the new amp(s) and then 4 guage to the sub amp. Which side of a 96 Accord LX sedan should I be running the power wire from the battery? I also want to put a cap in there as well. Right now it's on the driver's side, but by the time I go through the hole in the firewall I've already lost about 6 feet of wire, it would be much easier to go through the passenger side and I'd still have a lot of cable left too. What do you all think? I imagine that 2 guage wire is not very flexible.

Use a 4ch amp.
And why not run both an 8ga and whatever the sub amp needs, forget the splitter and all the connections that go along with one connect power directly to amp, use two ANL fuses, [100A for the 8ga] size for other cable will depend on cable gauge. 94

Hey thanks for the advice. How would I power cap both amps though? Or should I not cap my speaker amp and only cap my sub amp? Thanks again!

You're crazy. i use a 100A fuse for 4awg and 50 for 8awg

I wouldnt see the problem of using a distribution block running off of a 2 gauge wire either. I would run that to the trunk, then run the 8 gauge to the 4ch amp and then run the 4 gauge to the sub amp with the capacitor.

the only difference is you're going to have a voltage fluctuation when the bass amp is under heavy demand. if you're running 2awg to the distribution block this shouldn't be much of an issue. it would however, require another fuse in the circuit, 1 for the main, and one for each wire coming off the distribution block.

I'm a little confused I guess. Sounds like most people think I should run 2 guage from the battery and fuse at the battery, then run to a power cap then to a distribution block, then 8 guage to the mains with a fuse in between, then 4 guage to the subs with a fuse in between? Sound good? Seems fairly reasonable to me. What do you all think? Thanks for the help everyone!
