Default Looking at 92 hatch. Wondering your guys thoughts.

Hey

I'm still pretty new to the honda scene coming from the dsm camp. I'm looking to pick up a daily driver/possible future project

Anyways heres the deal.

92 Civic Hatch (either cx or hx, guy didn't know)
-163k miles on body
-60k on new engine completely stock (belt went on old motor)
-Syncros starting to wear in 3rd but overall great trans (said it had been shifting like that since they got it and i believe him)
-Couple of door dings but overall good body with good paint
-Roof rack
-No rust
-A/C - if it doesn't work it'll probably be removed if working probably be removed
-Clean interior minus wear on drivers seat
-CD player
-Lowering springs (struts weren't blown and has been lowered since right after they bought it)
-Runs great needs windshield and valve cover gasket
-2nd owners had for 7 years getting rid of due to new vehicle

Seemed like an excellent car aside from being gutless (but was to be expected). Guy was asking 2200. I talked him down to 1950. Seem like a good deal to you guys? Any comments you guys can give would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

thats a pretty good price if you ask me. especially for one with no rust.

the transmission thing isnt that big of a deal, and since its a d series new tranny/motor is cheap (got mine for 300, both motor and tranny)

i paid 2200 for a 4 door with 200k miles on it and a new motor and crap paint.

take 1700 cash to the guy and say,

right now, i have 1700 dollars (show him) and say its yours for the car. I think he would take it.

1700 seems like a pretty fair price. Get it if you can, especially with good motor, even if its just your daily driver til you get a swap or something.

Valve cover gasket is nothing to replace but for it to need replacing on an engine with 60k on it is suspect. 1700 isn't bad though I just got a 93 dx hatch with 150k for 1300 in pretty good shape.

Guy is firm on price of 1950. Like I said new motor was due to not changing timing belt and it going. I'm not to worried about doing work on the car...I have owned several POS that have always needed work so doing work is nothing new to me. I'm just trying to get a good price. I have looked into it more and it seems like car is worth about what he was asking so I figure dropping a couple of hundred makes it a good deal.
