New Paint Pics (lots 'o pics)
Well, here's a couple pics from my recent paint job!
First off a couple of the car in lots and lots of pieces. I'll say I have new respect for paint & body work - just masking off everything before painting was 4-5 hours of work! To anyone doing anything like this, I'd also suggest buying a box of Zip Lock baggies - use them for bolts, small pieces, etc. I did & labled each baggie with masking tape & it was a huge help when it was time to put everything back together.
Well, enough of the scary **** - here's the (nearly) finished product...

Ah yes - actually I spent 1 1/2 hours masking off the grill alone. It's a serious bitch to get the ends where the grill meets the main part of the bumper skin. I think the effort was worth it though - even up close there are almost no overspray spots on the grill.
In case you missed it on those pics, here's a pic of my new antenna. I grabbed a 90 Teg power antenna & cable from a wrecking yard & did this install myself. Before someone flames me, I know it's adding a small amount of weight, but let's face it - this is a 4dr, not a CRX or hatch - I'm not trying to hit 11's (low 13's will do
) Besides, I just hate the look of A pillar antennas!
Too bad the pearl in the paint doesn't show up well on the pics - it really does look better in person
Now on to my next project - I'm picking up a b16a on Friday & am looking for a b20z long block - I'm looking at building a CRVTEC from the bottom end up

That is a really very clean job!!!
How long did the project take from start to finish? You know, tearing everything down, all the way up to when you picked it back up? Oh, who is that sexy man in the second pic there? Looks like a big beer fan!!

i like the antenna...the whole car is pretty tight.nice job, were did you paint it..in you driveway??? or did you rent a spray booth? was this your first body job??
NICE
. I can see the pearl in the first finished pic after the fatguy pic. Is he shaving in your yard?!
How was the actual painting and prep like sanding? Was it really time consuming or was it sand it evenly, mask, then shoot? How many base coats? How many clears? I want to do the same, but I am scared it will take too long and not be worth the time and effort.

lmao. i didn't even see him in there. he's the guy who hooked up all the stuff cheap & he did all the bodywork. & yeah, he does like his beer...
start to finish should take 3-5 days if you know what you're doing & have access to a paint booth. since my job was a hook up, it was about 3 1/2 weeks between the time i dropped it off & the time it was back on the road. i did most of the disassemby & reassembly myself, but i really don't know what I'm doing with real bodywork, so robbie took care of that. he says a job like this would be about $3500 or so... i sure wouldn't ever try to do a paint job without a booth or some sort of clean room...

did you spray it yourself? or did you take it to a place? and just prepped yourself?
i am wanting to do it myself, with my friends help, on my 90crxsi, i had a wreck, and it has a black unpainted hood, bumper, and fender, and looks crappy right now, i need to match them, but i am low on cash.
