Information for newbies ...
I'm a newbie to this forum and to Honda "tuning". I've run across many abbreviations and other types of information with which I am unfamiliar.
I propose that the more experienced among you could help us newbies understand what we are reading with a little help.
To start, how about helping us (me) with the following, what they stand for, what they mean, and what they represent.
JDM
G3
Mugen
B-series
GD
and any others you can think of.
Also, how do I upload my photo(s)?
Thanks in advance.

JDM = Japanese Domestic Market, i.e. parts whose origin is Japan. Whether it be Honda Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or an aftermarket brand. Parts whose origin is United States would be denoted with USDM.
Mugen = A popular JDM company who has been making quality parts for Hondas for years.
B-Series = A series of motors that came primarily in Hondas from the 90's, including Integra RS, GSR, LS, and Type R, as well as 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si's. RSX and 02 Civic Si's have K-Series motors. Fits have L-Series motors, etc...
G3 and GD alone have no meaning as far I as know however...
GD3 = Part of the unique VIN number for Fits. It denotes the particular chassis of a car. 95-01 Integras use DC2, 96-00 Civic Hatcbacks use EK, 99-00 Civic Si's use EM1, etc. If you check the VIN number for your car, it will have a unique code depending upon model. These letters are commonly used in place of typing "1992-995 Honda Civic Hatchback," as EH2 is much quicker.
Hope that helps.

How do I know if a JDM part will fit on my Fit? (Sorry for he unavoidable pun!)
It seems in my limited reading that not all JDM parts will fit on the USDM model. Do most of the websites that sell JDM parts clearly indicate when/if the part won't fit on USDM models?

A lot of learning what will fit is through experience.
While most JDM parts fit, not all do. For example their safety standards are different, so the JDM Fit front is shaped differently. Because our front ends are extended for crash saftey standards, our headlights, bumpers, radiator support and a few other little things are shaped differently.
Things like center consoles w/ armrest, JDM tailights, certain exhausts, and even strut tower bars will fit.
It just depends on the particular part.
If the website is quality and has their **** together, they usually denote parts that do not fit the Fit. The best thing you can do however is just ask.
And you're welcome, we all gotta start somewhere.

welcome to honda-tech. if you wanna know more stuff about ur fit (if you have one) check out fitfreak.net. Its a whole website and community dedicated to the fit. You will learn a lot about the fit and what "fit's." we all started that way cuz the fit was brand new to the US.
