Default Squeaking PS Belt

So my PS belt kept squeaking before. It didn't have much tension on it so I tightened it a little bit to have the same tension similar to my sisters 05 civic. The squeak is not so loud as before but it's still there. It squeaks when I start my car and goes away after 2-3 seconds. And when I come to a stop, it squeaks for like 2-3 seconds...stops and when I take off...it squeaks again for like 2-3 seconds. Also when I start my car up, if I turn on my lights and power is being drawn, it squeaks until I rev my car to make it go away.

I'm thinking it's the cold weather maybe?

I'm pretty sure it's my PS belt...should I tighten it some more?

All three of my belts have only about 5k-6k miles on them.

You should probably tighten the belt just a little more. It probably shouldn't deflect more than about 1/2 inch, when you push down with your finger on the belt, between the engine and the pump.

The belt may be glazed, also. One other thing you can try is get a YELLOW crayola and let the crayon rub against the side of the pully that touches the pullies. Yellow for some reason works pretty well, other colors don't work so well. You could also buy some belt dressing, but to be honest the yellow crayola works much better.

I don't have crayons but I'll maybe try tightening the belt some more. Or spray belt dressing on it.

But won't tightening the belt even more cause it to stretch?
