I hate having to make a post like this and apologize to the mods if this needs to be moved/locked but before this situation escalates anymore I would like your feedback.

A few weeks ago I sold user omiehomie a set of driver/passenger side power window switches and door lock switches out of my '00 ITR. I no longer needed them seeing as my car is now just used just for the track (many know I am an instructor for NASA and racing in honda-challenge this season) and after seeing his post in the fs/wtb thread I offered them to him. I even negotiated a very fair price of $60 shipped ups paid through paypal.

I thought all was well until a few days ago when he pm'ed me talking about a problem with the main window switch. He asked for my help in diagnosing the problem so I told him I would ask around and see if anyone else had this problem (which I did) and no one seemed to have any idea what the problem might be. They were all well aware that the switches did work when they were removed from my car.

The switches should all be the same correct through the different models right so if you had wiring from a different model in your car it wouldnt matter would it? I dont like this at all

To me this seems like you found a cheaper (or free) set local and you are trying to recoup your money. Im sorry if this is not true, but thats what it sounds like to me.

Again, im sorry but im not going to refund your money for a switch (ect.) that I know was in great condition when it was sent.

I communicated with you at all times letting you know just when everything would be shipped and then checked to make sure you received the shipment. Look at it from my perspective; I sold you working switches, (as well as the header) for well under what others have sold them for and you tell me now they do not work and want to send everything back.

I have sold many, many things on honda-tech and stand by my word as a seller and would never sell anything that wasent as advertised. Im sorry this did not work out for you but hope you understand where I am coming from.

Sorry for the long post guys but if anyone can help omiehomie out with another switch to try that would be awesome and to look at mine and figure out why it is not working for him.

Thanks for reading this long-winded post but I was not sure what to do. I’m one of the lucky ones whose never had a problem dealing with anyone here on HT especially not in the ITR community and don't want to start now.

Im not familiar with the window switch, but I assume its only a few wires? Couldnt he just compare the connections on the switch you gave him to the switch he had on the car originally? If they arent identical then the problem is most likely wiring. Get a Helms or something with a schematic.

Refund? Id say unless it can be confirmed the switch itself is bad, then no refund should be given. Sounds like it just needs more troubleshooting and the buyer needs to research this rather than bitching at the seller in such a manner after only a few days.

 

Yes, I agree. The only thing to do is confirm the switch is bad. It probably doesn't even have to be hooked up to a window to see if its working or not.
If the switch is bad, send it back. If its not bad, then well. Its probably A) User error or b) something else has gone bad in the circuit.

 

I know omiehomie has to have a friend with a teg.... put your switch in that car and see if it works. If it does, the switch isnt your problem. I wouldnt give a refund either if I KNEW that it was in working condition when shipped.. If I had a doubt in my mind, I'd probably have him send the switch back.

 

I think what jaaa is trying to say is that he KNOWS the switch was good, he thinks omiehomie is possibly trying to pull a fast one.

He is working on a theft recovery. I imagine that he has wiring issues and not switch issues. Workin on my GSR, when I installed a new switch thinking I only needed a switch I toasted the new switch.

If thats the case then he needs to figure out what else is wrong with the car becasue its not the switch... I dont know you personally but I dont think ur a fakking liar!

I understand where you are coming from. But I feel that you jumped the gun here also rather than working towards figuring out if the switch was bad or not. You shouldnt accuse him of trying to pull a fast one without good reason besides you THINK he found another one for cheaper and wants to get his money back. Even is that was the case, whats the big deal? you could sell the switch to someone else and make even more money off it if that buyer was not in the know.

STOP POINTING FINGERS, FIGURE OUT IF THE SWITCH IS BAD, THEN WORK TOWARDS A RESOLUTION.

I guess my issue here is now that the switch was hooked up and there is a wiring issue, the switch could have gone bad. [shruggs]

 

It seems like a non-bias third person needs see the item in question, check it and report back.
W/o proof from either side, this could go on forever...

Lets say that I sent you a perfect working switch. Through working with your wiring nightmare you fried the switch just like blowing a fuse... What do you do? Maybe you dont even realize that it happened, but I know I sold you a perfect switch...

I do agree that you guys need to figure out if the switch is indeed bad. Find somone with another teg and trade. If his doesnt work in ur car but did in his, obviously you have a different problem. If his switch works in his car, then doesnt work after you tried, then you are blowing switches.

I do not think I jumped the gun at all. I had a bad feeling this would escalate as he seemed fairly upset and I wanted a second opinion on what the problem could be.

I wanted to see possible explanations ect and thanks to comp97gsr for sharing his 1st hand knowlege and his 4 switch figures

I appreciate your guys opinions and would really like someone to go out there and take a look for the guy

I was referring to how many times I used switch in my post.... I should have got it up to 20 somehow.

thats good.... the switch is not ITR specific so he should expand his search. My offer still stands for my JDM switch.
