Difference B/T 96 spec itr motor and 98 spec

Difference B/T 96 spec itr motor and 98 spec
I have an itr and the front end was stolen so the guy got new motor and i dont know how to tell if its a 96 or 98 spec motor...it says b18c5 so how do i tell the diff?
