Opinon requested: New shocks and wheel hop
What do you guys suggest for new shocks?
I have H&R sport springs, a full front/rear camber adj kit, and STOCK ITR shocks. After I got the H&R's I was quite happy as the car still felt like it did when it was stock - tight, but not bumpy and rough like a lot of aftermarket suspension jobs. That's what I'd like to maintain now.
I believe I should replace my stock ITR shocks for 2 reasons - first being that they are still oem and have never been replaced, and I'm coming near 200,000 kms soon. Second reason is over the last few months I've noticed I get a LOT of wheel-hop rather than tire spin, even when the conditions are good. This didn't use to be the case, and I haven't changed anything in the suspension since then.
What brand/design of shocks would you suggest for an "oem feel"? Should I just replace them with oem shocks again? Or is there an aftermarket shock that is better quality and will last longer, but still have the same ride quality....

Tried that. Put in Energy Suspension poly motor mounts.... car ran rough, didn't help with wheel hop, so I pulled them out.

Tried that too... it's on there right now. Helps a little, but not near enough.

I don't need much adjustability, no. How do I know if the springs are going bad?

The pressure looks ok, I think... 35 psi
What motor mounts did you use? I really did -not- like the energy susp ones. Made the car shake badly at idle etc...

its most likely your shocks. I am on the same setup and its getting progressively worse. However I do not have as many miles as you. I have super stiff mounts and my wheel hop is as bad now as its ever been. I feel my hop problems are mainly suspension related.
tire wear and pressure, alignment settings, suspension, motor mounts, clutch all play a part in wheel hop.

Andrew, personally I would look into a set of Koni yellows, They would match up perfectly to your current H&R springs. The do have damper adjustability, which you mentioned you didn't need, but for the $$$ they are great.
Thanks for the help/suggestions everyone. I too think it's shock related, as really nothing else has changed, but it's getting worse and worse as time goes on.
Would the Koni yellows still provide that nice luxurious Acura ride that I'm accustomed to though? I really don't want to go over a small bump in the road and feel my eyes shake in their sockets...

I have Koni Yellow on stock springs - they feel just like stock shocks at the softer end, but you can stiffen them significantly to suit stiffer springs and/or autocross/race requirements.
