Default T3/T4 60 Trim .60/.63 AR on B16?

Is this turbo too laggy? Should I pick something smaller?. 300 HP is wanted with stock sleeves, eagle rods, forged pistons, etc...

These are 57 trim I believe but close enough to give you an idea. Turbo lag is not only determined by the turbo. THe manifold, down pipe cams, etc... have a dramatic affect on lag. This turbo is not SUPER crazy so don't sweat it. ALso look at hp level when looking for a turbo. I read the gt28rs is pretty sick and has great spool up and some people have made 400+.

this is the turbo you ask of but ona gsr with alot of boost.

But the turbo is the main component that determins HP limit and lag. 300whp is easy to get with a 50trim t3/t04e, and even that has another ~75-100hp left. A 60trim T3 .60/.63 stg3 exhaust would be perfect for a bit over 300whp and a quick spool/low lag.

FYI the first b16 I did some tuning on was a 60trim T3, .60/.63 stg1 exhaust. Before I touched the uberdata map, it made ~250whp at 9psi. These turbos can make 15psi+ w/o "pushing hot air", so 300whp on a smallish turbo isn't hard to do.

This turbo spools quick and i have always no turbo lag at all with my set up.

I run the same turbo in a 57 trim on my stock b16 and I love it. Like those dyno graphs showed the power comes on right abought 5000 rpms just befor vtec engages.

Honda thought It would be a good place for the for the motor to scream and I agree.

I like the part throttle to cause with the .63 ar it does not go in to boost so easily like a smaller turbo.

Thanks a whole lot. You helped out big time. I am thinking about getting the gt2860rs but I am not sure if its in my budget. Is there a huge differance in the powerband with the gt28rs?

The ball-bearing turbos dont necessarily spool up faster but they dont fall out of boost as fast as a thrust bearing turbo. For example, when you shift gears the ball-bearing turbo will hold its spool longer than a thrust bearing turbo, because of this the driveability/streetability of a ball-bearing turbo is superior.
