Question about dc2 side markers (searched)
There is no right way it's just a matter of preference. I have smoked side markers on my teg and I have them to blink. I just tapped off of the front blinkers.

There is no 'right' way to do it. The 'right' way would be hooking them up to where the function, period. The 'OEM' way (I think that's what you're talking about) is where the sidemarkers would only light up when the turn signal has been turned on.
I'm not familiar with DC2 wiring though, so I wouldn't be able to tell you how accomplish the OEM way.

3 wires, that's odd. Can you post a pic of them? That doesn't sound like OEM sidemarkers.
OEM sidemarkers use 194 bulbs, which take only 2 wires, since there is only 1 filament. They should function as turn signals only, if you want them to look completely factory.
