What up all, new member of the Honda family here. I just bought a DOHC Vtec Del Sol, and wanted to fix up a few quick things first, like the rubbery *** shifter (I used to have a Mustang).

Who here has a short shifter, and how do you like it? Does it firm up the rubberiness of shifting?

Stock Integra dual-bend with Energy Suspension urethane shifter bushings.

 

I have never heard of that gen of civic having a rubbery shift you should have a mech linkage to the trans. First thing that I would check are all the shift link rubber bushings and replace them. Make sure all the bolts are tight. Then if you still feel that things are to rubbery try a good short shifter. Remember this is an import so compairing the shifting of an American notchy shifting gear box is like compairing apples to oranges. These cars shift more like a European car

 

I have had B&M and Skunk2 and loved them both.

B&M straight short shifter, es bushings, oem titanium shift ****. works great, the best set up i ever had.

To Instructor, I appreciate your input as well, I do need to get a tune-up. However, when I say "rubbery", I mean that the shifter is much less positive feeling than my Mustang. I know the two are apples and oranges, but my friend used to have a '99 EX, and the shifter felt the same. I guess I'm trying to get the notchiness back

Honda shifters are normally pretty good compared to the 5.0s I've driven. If yours isn't, I'd recommend new poly shifter bushings.

If you still want a short shifter recommendation... I have the B&M dual bend with the ugly cueball Razo ****. It's under $50 at modacar, and I really like it. I think it's notchy, and the throws are very short. I've had it on for well over a year, and it hasn't broke yet, so that's better than most of the stories I hear about ebay shifters. I wish the **** was a little heavier (it's just hard plastic), but I love the size and feel of it, so I'll probably never get rid of it.

I have a Tenzo R shifter, I like it. I'm also rocking a Mugen shift ****, I like that thing.

stock GSR shifter is nice

 

i have the straight b&m one expensive but worth it, however i put a slight bend in it, i also use the urethane bushings good setup just whatever u do, do not buy an ebay shifter unless you like punching cd players

lmao. That last part made me laugh. The movement between gears in my car is very slight.

I have had two generic shortshifters and they work way better than stock. The one thing i do recommend is getting a heavy *** shiftknob, it does make a difference. (try 340grams)

I'm all about fashion &gt; function when it comes to shift *****. I could careless how heavy it is, that what hand strength is for.
