If you have a governor, it's set between 115 and 120mph. Why, with a Y7, do you need to go that fast? You'll never get up to speed in any kind of legal, sanctioned race.

How many laps, and how long of a stretch? What modifications do you have to your motor that allow you to trap over 120 with a D16Y7?

If you have a chipped ecu, then you should be able to remove it through repflashing the chip. If you need to get inspected, throw your stock ECU back in. Not a hard concept.

the chip i have has no speed gov. i tried it on the car but i was getting a code14. i moved the pin and got rid of the light. my idle is still crappy because of the 2wire and 3 wire IACV crossup.

So can i block the IACV?? .

So what kind of setup are you running, besides a 1.6 SOHC Non-VTEC D16Y7?

Thank you for actually posting that. That helps me understand how you're getting a Y7 up to speed.

why is it so hard to believe that a y7 can go 120+ ....

just curious if any of the people who replied to this topic road race or even drive their cars on track.

don't tell someone how much hp their car has and how fast it can go ....we already know this.

bring it to road atlanta....

I wrongly assumed it was for "street" racing. We get a rash of people with stock motors wanting to be uber fast by removing their rev limiters and speed governors. That's why I thanked him for posting the course, since he did not previously say what kind of racing he did. I've had a Y7, and I used to auto-x and do short road courses. Nothing close to the size of track he ran on, we just don't have any like that where I live.

OK, to disarm some of the folks in here that are screaming D00D YU CANT GO 120 IN A Y7!!:

First of all, he is NOT doing 120, even though the ECU thinks he is, and here's why:

The only size V710 you can buy for a 13" wheel is 215/50/13. Stock for an EK civic is 185/60/14, I believe. If you do the math on that, here's what you get:

185/60/14 stock tire:
diameter: 22.7"
circumference: 71.4"
revs/mile: 887

215/50/13 V710:
diameter: 21.5"
circumference: 67.4"
revs/mile: 940

With those numbers, the ECU is going to read the vehicle speed 5.6% higher than it really is, meaning when the speedo/ecu reads that the car is going 120mph, the car is really only travelling 113mph, which is definitely attainable given a good corner exit speed and a long straight.

isnt there a fuel cut though? isnt that what we are hitting. My Y7 stops @ 190 km/h. there is still rpm, but it acts as though there is a fuel cut.

Haha. And you say I spread useless and/or incorrect information?

There's a speed governor, in the STOCK ECU of every 5th and 6th generation USDM civic... On my 5th gen EX it's at 120-125 (assuming speedo accuracy). I found this out on a track...yeah that's it...a track...

You ARE limited by gearing but ONLY if your speed governor is removed first. If you didn't have a speed governor, any VX would be able to clock what, 198? Before it redlines in 5th?
