Default Could I have gotten Bad Gas???

Last night I was driving home on interstate for about an hour. After I got off and stopped at the first red light it started idling at about 1300 rpms. Then when I tried to go it almost bogged and had a big loss of power. When I shifted into 2nd there was a small back fire. After I got into 3rd it was fine, you couldnt tell anything was wrong. But everytime I stopped..... same thing! It only back fired going into 2nd. Anybody know whats goin on? Thanks in advance! Oh, its a 96 LS B18B.

I say your best bet is to check the basic parts. plug wires then your plugs, the gap on the plug make sure theres a good connection get some dry gas to make sure there no water build up in your tank etc then see if it goes away.

man, when i get bad gas, everyone suffers.

with no CEL, hard to tell exactly what it is. But I would first start with checking the timing, all the plug wires are connected tight.

Then get good gasoline.

That doesn't help, and still no CEL, go through routine maintenance items like cap and rotors, maybe plug wires, spark plugs. you should probably do those anyway. Fuel filter also, but this may be more of a timing issue.

your car is running rich. Usually when it bogs/back fires its running rich. thats what happen with my last dc2 i had it kept blowing out black smoke and it would bog once in a while and shoot blue fire *****/back fire when the tip of the buddyclub spec II exhaust was hot as hell after driving 2 hours straight.
