So I got a new paintjob...
Which turned out to be a horrible ordeal. I dunno what's up with my paintjob karma, but somehow it managed to keep me carless for five weeks. I'm too tired to describe the whole ordeal, so I'll just list it out.
* First of all, the shop put a hole in my fender and badly scraped the paint on my front bumper while performing a mechanical job.
* I took it back for the whole car to be repainted for $1000
* I call the guy after a few days, he says it will be ready so and so.
* After calling some more and two weeks passing by, the guy tells me that the painter went back to Vietnam so I can just pick up my car. He says bring it back when the painter returns. Get this: they didn't even bother to tell me. I had to call them to find out--and I was carless for two weeks!
* I bring my car back.
* I call. The guy says it will be ready so and so.
* I call several more times and the guy keeps saying it will be ready so and so. He says the shop is having problems getting the paint to stick on my moldings. Bullshit. Then how does Honda have painted moldings from the factory?
* Finally, after a total of five weeks, I see the car outside the shop. Upon inspection, I discover that they did not even paint the whole car. The rear bumper where I specifically said to repaint because of previous paint damage is left untouched. I had also asked them to install new rivets on one of the sideskirts. No rivets. As for the painted areas, the doors actually look fine, but the hole in the fender is still there. The guy says I have to get a new fender. I say forget it. Besides, the hole is their fault. I'm not paying for it, and I'm too tired of dealing with them. I look at the front bumper. The old damaged paint wasn't even sanded off! They painted right over it! Which means that I can see the damaged paint under the new layer!
* Some other unproffesional negligences:
o traces of masking tape are still on the car
o they did not realign the front bumper which they disaligned at the same time of paint scratch and fender hole oopsy
o primer or something of the sort is dried up on all windows (still removable)
o white paint is present where it's NOT supposed to be
o they painted over the keyhole (just wanted to point out that--who the hell paints over the keyhole??)
o the driver side carpet is full of grease marks (whatever happened to the "thank you" paper floor mats?)
o one rear wheel and tire has a clayish substance dried over it (and possibly some primer)
o the gas is empty when it was at a little under the halfway mark when I left it at the shop
* Oh, oh, and here's the REALLY ridiculous part: my aunt just called me and said she got a parking ticket in the mail for me--AND THE STREET IS WHERE THE SHOP IS LOCATED! THE SOBS PARKED MY CAR OUTSIDE AND I GOT A TICKET FOR IT! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!
* So yeah, at this point I'm not even mad anymore. I don't know what I am. Eventually I will at least need the front bumper to be repainted because pretty soon the paint will start to chip and flake away. Also, I WILL NOT PAY FOR THE TICKET. I am taking it to them and THEY are going to pay for it.
* Oh yeah, I gave them $600 and not $1000.
After all is said and done, here are some pictures of the newly painted car. It actually looks pretty clean, but once you get up close, especially the front bumper, the negligence will show.

Good night anyone who has read through my rant! I really didn't want to type all that, but hey, H-T is perfect for ranting! And yeah, the car looks clean, but that's because I washed it, cleaned off the wheel and tire, scrubbed down the windows really hard, removed all of the masking tape, realigned the front bumper, and scrubbed the carpet. And then tomorrow I will screw in the sideskirt rivets during automotive lab.

thats worthless, i hate how people cant even do there own damn job.
What they were feeding you about the moldings is half true, Sometimes it is fairly hard to get paint to stick to plastic like that, especialy if your painter is a moron.
Id take the car to several good body shops and have them write up a quote on a completely paint job, including fixing the damage. get 2-3 shops to do this. Then take legal action, use the highest Estimate and sue for that plus damages for not having a car for the 5 weeks.

I looked at the pics before reading the script and I was thinking the sideskirts look like they were covered with white out. The paint on the side skirts does not match the rest of the car....
Man that is $hitty. Go to the better business bureau and file a complaint
Also, post the name of that shop so we can get the word out
BTW > * I call. The guy says it will be ready so and so. What the f*** does that mean
