clutch going out?
i have a obd1 grs motor and trans in an eg. the clutch problem started when i was goin up a hill i went to gas it to get around some cars and it just revved up. i went to a friends and thought my clutch was out but when i went to drive it it drove perfectly fine for the entire day. then the next day i had driven it around for a few hours and the same thing started to happen. this was the other day, its been doin it on and off and my tranny still goes into gear just fine... is my clutch going out or could it be some other problem? any input would be greatly appreciated before i replace the clutch. thanks guys. oh yeah and i do have plenty of fluid...
when my stock gsr clutch started going out it did that too...slipped sometimes but not all the time...it will get worst and worst until you know what...i just got a competition stage 2 clutch and flywheel
yes your clutch is worn out. yes it needs to be replaced now you say that you have an obd1 so im guessign that you have a cable clutch which means that you can adjust it and it will grip again but you can only adjust it a couple times and then its gone. Adjusting it will buy you some time mine got me buy for 2 months. Baby it and you can get a little more life out of it buy adjusting it.

1994 and 1995 GSRs were also OBD1, no cable shifters in those things

if its hard to get into gear and there is minimal a minmal amount where you can get off of the clutch and it will stall, also when you have it in gear and the car is still it shakes. Does that mean the clutch is going also?
When my clutch went (on an RS but the clutches on the GSR/GS/LS/RS are the same) I would hear a squeel like a loose belt, but would feel it in the clutch pedal. It would squeel and take a second to hook up and it would dissappear.
sounds like its just starting to wear out but enough to a point where it needs replaced. It sounds like you got some life left in it , when it really needs replaced itll slip like a fat girl on ice when you shift gears , i.e when you shift itll slip to 5 grand then catch and drop to 3.5 per say. When it slips like that theres no life left basically

nah i had no wierd smells and didnt have anything besides what i explained it does seem like its getting worse.. when the clutch master cylinder goes out doesnt the fluid leak all over the clutch pedal? or that just sometimes? anyways i have a friend with an extra gsr clutch so i think imma replace it this weekend. anyways ill let you guys know after this weekend what happens with it... oh yeah and a friend was saying that you had to resurface the flywheel or something like that when replacing the clutch, does anyone know anythnig about this? the clutch is used and is from a odb2 gsr. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

My slave cylinder leaked no fluid and it got worse, real quick. (No resistance in the pedal)

i resurfaced my flywheel myself with a sanding kit for a dremel... picked it up from napa for $17. it grips great. as long as you do something to it so it isn't glazed anymore you'll be fine. but might aswell upgrade to a lighter flywheel while you're in there. i suggest an ITR flywheel

This really has nothing to do that I can imagine with the clutch slipping,
If he has it in gear already, pushes the gas, and the rpms shoot up,
then he's obviously getting it into gear just fine, it's just a worn clutch.

The point of resurfacing is to make it perfectly flat and level again for the next clutch. I guess if you're using an already-used clutch it wouldn't matter as much since it's worn and might not be perfectly flat with a resurfaced flywheel anyway, but a new clutch should get a resurfaced flywheel.

so would i still have to resurface it even though im putting on a used clutch? also it sorta seems like the clutch works better at night for some reason i know my car runs cooler but i dunno if the clutch is better in the cold or ? when i drove it when it was hot it started slipping immediately but when i drive home from work at night its ok and doesnt slip...
