Default Riding in the rain

The weather here in WA is really confusing. Its really nice so I go out and ride, 15 minutes later im in a downpour. I think its making me a better rider being in the rain but anyway heres my question. Is it necessary to dry the chain everytime after riding in the rain to avoid rust?

I'd check with the locals, We dont ride here when it rains that often. I dry my bike off anytime it gets wet and thats mostly due to it being washed.

You should use a good quality chain lube, and that will help prevent the chain from rusting, and then you don't need to be overly concerned about it getting wet.
If the bike is going to sit for a long period of time, make sure that you have it clean and dry before storage, or else the links can rust, and then you will have problems when you try to ride it again.
Also, avoid things like W-D40, or other solvents, as they strip the lubrication from the chain, and can cause it to wear prematurly as well.

You can use wd40 or diesel to clean the chain before lubing. I use chain wax, it looks better, same thing just a little waxy. Good stuff...

a tip when riding in the rain:
leave the bike in gear when breaking. If the clutch is in, the back tire can lock up. When you leave it in gear, you can apply the rear break heavily if need be and not have to worry about it locking. If only there was something to keep the front from locking..... wait, there is! its called practice
Riding in the rain can be fun, but dangerous if your not familiar with the way your bike responds in the wet.
