Default Painting Car- Need suggestions, Help.

I got a quote from a local guy saying he'll spray my car for $800-1000. Right now i cant afford that with school and all- and i need...er want paint. Ive been searching the archives- and most topics get out of hand- and guys just start posting their work and no tips. Now paint on the car is fine- except the original owner was in a slight accident- and now the car has most of the frontend black- and the doorjambs and engine bay are the original purple color. Im planning on doing the bodywork and primer myself- along with help from friends. Im worried about throwing on the paint and clear though. Ive been thinking about just painting the parts i need to- but worried about not matching the paint well. Any tips from you DIYers? Im reading up techniques on spraying, how not to get the stripes- fisheye, crows feet, all those things. Anything else i should know? Heres what im working with.

Shocker sticker came with the car so eh. But see the paint isn't that bad- and from what the guy told me the paint isn't that old. Should i paint the whole car- or just front?

if you're on budget why not just do a Maaco paint job? they have different prices and also if you're doing the prep work yourself it should come out pretty good.

I know theres a whole thread on Maaco paintjobs and lots of pros and cons on there, do a search adn check out what they say, it should help u out for sure.

Yeah ive searched that- but maaco paintjobs here = ***. I know they have really cheap prices- but ive compared some of the good maaco paintjobs on this board- to some of the good ones here, and it doesn't compare. I did consider that though a while back untill i went to look at their work. Maybe i'll just find someone to spray paint/clear for cheap- i mean it'll be all prepped- and taped for them.

really you dont want to cheap out on paint because you get things like orange peel and the paint starting to fade and chip. IMO do it right the first time. if u can stand the look of spray painting for now then go for it but i would just ride it out for a bit lol.
