i need professional opinions
i have a 1990 DA with an obd0 LS/VTEC... i originally bought the car with the b16 swap already installed... i noticed during the test drive that the valves were ticking pretty loud... to make a long story short, i blew that motor and now have installed an LS/VTEC...the only problem is that i broght the car to get a valve adjustment and they told me the valves were fine but they were just really loud. Whenever im driving, no matter at cold temps/high temps, as soon as the RPM's reach 3500, the valves lift and it obviously makes a smoother and higher pitch sound like popping vtec...but i honestly dont believe it is. The computer is not chipped and im not running a vafc... does this sound correct or should i be checking somethingto make sure i am positivley popping vtec?
thanks for the help
thanks for the help
get a valve adjustment regardless of them saying its fine, and pay the cash to have it done at a dealership. as far as vtec is concerned, 3500 is extremely low unless you have some ghetto chipped ecu....so find a vtec pw0 or pr3 ecu, and try swapping that to see if you notice any difference. you can also wire up a "VTEC light" to show it engaging: http://g2ic.com/tegtips/interior/25.html
