how much horsepower can a stock axle take???
more specificly a HF/Std axle, but i am also interested to know how much the Si/DX axle will take before it breaks. i also realize that not all axles are going to break at the same piont, just looking for an average.
i am turbo'ing my car soon and am still running HF axles, i do plan to up grade, just trying to get an idea here. THANKS...

ok so i have already beat the **** out of them for the last 5 months with my ZC so i have ~3-4 of turbo time? if thats even close it sounds good, i plan to change to Si setup this summer sometime.
how much are the Si's good for?

Dustin I am sure your axles are somewhat fine, even if you have beat them as hard as you could, your car right now is hardly making any power..
What kills axles? Launching.. That dude that lives in Tacoma with the 550hp D16a6 is still running stock axles... how? well, he has a very large turbo T4 to slowly getting him out of the hole, once he starts moving 3rd gear he hits his nos on top of his 15psi of boost. i am sure he doesnt launch at 6000rpms like some people do
Even with your turbo ZC you should still be fine..
Axles are cheap..

you can break em (usually cv joint that breaks) w/ about 160-170hp on std axles. not right away but after like a year of abuse. std axles are small
There really isnt any guidelines on what HP axles are breaking.
My friend's PRO class Integra was breaking axles at the line and on 3rd gear.
And this was while using the PRODRIVE axles.
Switched to DRIVESHAFTSHOP and they havent broken any since then.(knock on wood).
BTW: Its in an LS VTEC pushing mid 500hp.
I myself has busted stock axles on my Street SOHC many times. 2 times at the street races with stock tires and 2 times on the track, within a year. but I think its all by luck. since I cant figure out any correlation on why they are breaking. All the times were using stock OEM SI axles. Been racing with this last set for a year, and even using bigger slicks and launching higher RPM and havent broken any (knock on wood again).

As long as you don't have LSD driveshaftshop.com axles handle 400hp for the cheapest ones, $300 for a pair. My clucth won't hold the 75 shot now, so I'm saving my pennies to do the cvs and the act clucth at the same time.... My axles were fine, until the very first time I hit the spary, Knock knock knock, but I still have sprayed them though 6 bottles, and they haven't completly died... If my cvs are knocking, is it slowing me down ??
If you get driveshaftshop.com axles, your never think about'm again... Just trannies...
