Asking for a friend of mine, want anyones opinion with personal experience with this suspension. Best place to purchase it from? is it worth the money? what other suspension you would recommend for a drag civic? any input is appreciated Thanks FRANK

Are you refering to the spindle mount setup or Strange struts?

I have them on all 4 but have yet to run them. I looked at a BUNCH of struts and chose these by a longshot.

We've had spindle mount rears w/bars for a while and just switched front struts from another brand but have yet to test them.I'm sure they'll be better than the ones they replaced. This is not a SFWD obviously but I think the rear spring rates offered only go to 800lbs.Correct me if I'm wrong.

Anybody have issues with ride height with these? I had a customer trailer a car up here to tune and the slicks were touching the fender at rest. I told him it was way too low and that we'd need to raise it up. Well, all the slack was out of the spring. Ended up compressing the spring and turning the perch all the way up and then the ride height was ok, until he sat in the car, still too low. I don't know the spring rate and length that came with them, are there many options when you buy the kit? He said it all came together like that, not sure where he got them.

Oh, it is a SFWD car, EG chassis and 24.5" MT tires.

I think the hight of the fronts we received are 10 in(not real sure). It did not seem to be any lower than previous coilovers.Thats w/one piece front and 26's.I'm not sure if that would help tho

Would these work well with some 900lb hypercoils?

Strange did custom valving for me and I have 80 lb. springs on the rear. I would imagine they could do 900+ on the rears for you guys or you could just replace them.

Tony I have some funky stuff going on up front with the ride height adjustment also. I have mine all the way up pretty much.

Yeah, seems like the shocks are too short.

my pic up above is how my car sits. the upper control arm is damn near touching the shock tower, im thinking of getting a new top hat made, so the shock has some more room to come up through the tower, there is maybe an inch or so before the shock bottoms out on the tower. i belive my springs are 7inch tall. ill have to double check on that. the car still isnt as low as i would like it to be... but im not sweatin it. im trying to go racing before that stuff gets changed.

The problem is the shock is too short, a spacer will only make up for a spring that's too short. Seems to me the options are a very still spring that won't compress much at all, or a spacer between the upper shock mount and body, or between the "fork" and shock. Is there something else?

ya, i meant a spacer that goes between the upper strut/shock mount and the body, just like how the offroad guys do it.

so yea, i wonder if u can specify a longer shock/strut, hrm...

offers much more adjustability with the setup as far as height

How long is the shock body where the fork clamps on? how far can you raise it with spacers? Or are you talking about a piece that goes in between to lengthen it, like a male and female piece?

it is a spacer that you bolt onto the top of the shock and then bolt to the body -- the ones we have right now are probably 2-2.5" tall

kind of like this, imagine the bottom of this to be flat, 2 holes in the bottom mount section go on top of the shock and then we run bolts through 2 holes in the top mount section to the body of the car:

Gotcha. Do they offer the shocks in different lengths, or did they just make these for cars with 22" slicks?

as far as i know the off the shelf bolt on honda kits are only offered in one shock body length

i am still kind of amazed that strange really hasn't marketed these much at all - they have been around forever and still no one really knows much about them or that they are available in a lot of cases - they could of been the "omni" of sport fwd suspension with some proactive marketing 2-3 years ago
