Default HELP! Need to take off Dx/Si Front hubs at the junk yard.

I've heard the lock nut is pretty hard to loosen on the axle.. What tools will I need to aquire to do this job? I need the hubs for my LS swap in my STD..

Lock nut isn't that hard if you have a breaker bar or impact wrench (I'll assume you won't be able to use this one at the JY). I'd be more worried about getting the ball joints undone but that's just me. Bring along a good tool set, a breaker bar and a BFH for good measure . And I hope you're intending to just get the whole knuckle, you'll need a press to get just the hubs off.

1 1/4" socket with breaker bar and possibly helper bar (Sears jack handles work well for this). That should do the trick. Also to break the ball joints loose a 3lbs mini sledge works well. Leave the castle nut on so you don't screw up the threads.

Read below about ball joints

when im at the junkyard, i take off or find a section of an exhaust laying around and use that as my cheater bar with my breaker bar. i dont even bother unstaking the nut. its better to pull up than push down for more torque.

put a screwdriver in the vanes of the rotor to lock the wheel against the caliper.

and yeah, i just bring my 3lb sledge with me to take care of the balljoints.

I love seeing girls follow their guys around the junkyard, and especially waiting in the car. Freaking hilarious. I brought one to the yard before, its good times.
