I know a CRX isn't designed to do it, it could be done by stripping rear interior, and bracing / putting in some sort of frame for it. But I wouldn't want to risk all of the damage that's likely to occur. Unless its in parts I'd say just borrow a truck from someone.

I've done it with a DOHC ZC but it was a very short trip. On second thought I probably wouldn't do that again.

When I picked up my last civic i brought a full b16 swap with box back with me!!

I took out the passenger seat and put it in there - No damage at all

Put the box and linkage in the back

I had an A6 in the back of my hatch. Just gut the interior so you wont mess anything up. Then tie the motor to the metal peices in the back. It's very unsafe however you do it.

If you rear-end someone, that motor will come flying at the back of your head. I drove all the way from ohio like that. Not fun.

Not laughing at you but when I read "If you rear-end someone, that motor will come flying at the back of your head" it made me laugh

The guy i got my a6 from had his passanger seat taken out of his hatch stuffed his friend in the back folded down the seats "sandwich anyone" then had his friend balance the motor with the CF hood on the back folded seats...when he pulled up the guy got out and my girlfriend was like wtf. Anyways its better to transport in the passanger seat area, its made to hold more concentrated weight

I've had a B16 in the back of my gutted CRX, lifted in/out by two people and I've had trannies/swaps in the front seat.

Nothing beats the feeling of having a D in the front, and a B in the back

I had a Complete LS, tranny, spindles, tools, spare tire, head lights, luggage and 2 people from Phoenix, AZ to Charlotte, NC no issues.

That is with a full interior including cargo cover. Anything can be done that is the great thing about a CRX!

i would just put a piece of plywood over your spare tire then put an old tire(without rim) in to drop the motor on. just get the oil pan in the center of the tire and it sits pretty secure. then just strap it down somehow

Yeah DrDisco69 and I. The back end was squatted a little so that made the front end light. A few places across the barren waste land know as AZ, NM and TX 100mph was not really obtainable because the front end would float. So we kept her around 80-90.
"East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I'm east bound, just watch ol' "Bandit" run.

Keep your foot hard on the pedal. Son, never mind them brakes.
Let it all hang out 'cause we got a run to make.
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta and there's beer in Texarcana.
And we'll bring it back no matter what it takes."
-----Everybody now

However we did manage Santa Fe NM to Charlotte NC in 23.5 hours baby, with 31mpg (and that was a tooth off, but we didn't know it at the time)

CRX POWER!!!!!!!

haha yea we were jokin about how bad it'd be to have a A6 flyin at the back of your head!

I've seen it done in CRX's, also really unsafe, but it can be done, just use blankets under it and strap'er down

I transported a couple on the backseat of my EG

I transported my project motor in the back of my hatch. Old tire in the spare tire well, gutted interior, set the motor on the old tire, and tied ropes around the motor and tied that to the clips that the rear seat latches to.

Then I drove very carefully home.

It's not safe to have something like that in your passenger compartment in case you do get in a wreck, it'll seriously maim/kill you.

Guy from work had a 1000lb skid of hinges in the company pickup a while back, had to slam on the brakes, the skid wasn't all the way up in the bed, it shot forward and smashed in the back of the cab, pushing the seat and him into the steering wheel and hurting his back.

It's a little different with an EF and a 200lb motor IN the passenger compartment.

It can be done, just be careful.

Dohc ZC in the passenger seat area of a CRX. A couple bungie cords, some rope, and a couple bricks.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions, I bought ropes and straps from home depot. We'll see how it goes.

I transported a DOHC ZC with transmission in the back of my rex (when it still had stock suspension). It looked like it was going to wheelie lol . I was only going 30 miles or so and it worked out fine. Just put a sheet or something down to keep your interior nice.

done it. Basically bring some pillows or cushioning to keep the motor from shifting places.
