Need advice on gas leak (with pictures)
I finally got some pics of my fuel leak, but really I've never dealt with this before and I need advice as to where exactly it's coming from and if it's the gas tank, if I can band-aid it, or if I need a new tank. It leaked briefly a few weeks ago, when we got a huge *** snow storm, like maybe a couple hours, then it was fine for two weeks...then this morning it leaked for a couple of hours again. I don't think I ran over anything but I don't get how it can just not leak for a few weeks then do it again. The first time I barely had any gas in the tank, today I was nearly full. Please, any advice would be wonderful.
It was like a constant drip right here, it sucked. I have very high compression and I have to use 91+ octane so it really sucks, wasting gas like this.

You know that nobody is going to be able to tell you where its leaking from right? Theres no way your gonna be able to tell from those pics. Clean off the tank and let it run and watch the tank, thats about all you can do.
Jack it up, or put it on a lift and look under the ****** thing, look where it's leaking from. Could also be something as simple as the rubber piece between the filler neck and gas tank not having the hose clamps on tight enough, or the rubber is damaged.

I had a leak in the same spot turned out to be the return hose that comes from the engine bay. I just spliced in some new hose with clamps, the return side is not under pressure so no worries.
You can fix tanks with JB weld, just clean it really good or sandblast it, that being said, that works if it's the gas tank or filler neck, filler neck may as well replace it's cheap. I think it cost me 160cdn. But at least I got to keep all my gas that was in the old tank lol.
Cool to see a girl out in the car game, I thought it was a guy with a picture of his girlfriend, but then I saw your name was "Bacardi Breezer" and I know no straight guys drink that ****. lol

If it is your tank, I would advise against putting a bandaid on it.
They're around, if not less than $100 at vatozone/advance
If it's rusted enough to leak, there's probably enough crud in there to cause a problem.

well I'm not sure yet. I'll be putting new wheels on within the week and while it's jacked up I will take a look. It looks like it's running down the bottom of the tank and then dripping like it's coming from somewhere above it. Anyone have good instructions on how to drop the tank?
And why is my profile funny?

man i remember when i bought my car i thought i had a gas tank leak, so i went and bought the gas tank, and to my surpise the fuel pump cover or w/e wasnt tightened and it would leak whenever i would brake or accelerate hard.

Was the exact same thing on mine pull the plastic cover away and you'll see the line is probaly rusted away. The only thing is both my return and high pressure was toast. I used new tubing and compression fittings and haven't had a problem since. The plastic cover holds salt/sand and moisture on the lines causing them to corrode quickly.

Did you guys notice it dripping down the tank like I'm describing? Also sometimes when I accelerate slow in traffic I notice it hesitates for a second and I have to let off and press harder to get it back smoothly...I thought at first maybe it was cause I was using 87 octane with my high compression but since using 92, it still does the same thing and I figure it'd make more sense if I had a gas line problem..

Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure it's the tank. It's down to about 1/2 full now, and it quit dripping and I'm getting normal gas mileage. *sigh* Both of my DAs were so clean, no rust on the bottom anywhere, and then I get this CRX. ******* Ohio cars suck. LOL
How much for the tank you have?
I'll be looking at it more extensively this weekend, and I have a friend who is going to help (I've never done it before)....might upgrade my fuel lines to braided too, but in the least, change my tank.

Angela, there are only 2 gas lines coming out of the tank that are replaceable. One is the return which I think I used regular 1/4 rubber fuel hose. the other line is rubber but has a banjo fitting. I would just use stock lines they lasted almost 20 years, get a new one you probably wont have the car in another 20. If you get braided line some are not compatible with gas so be careful. Also when you do it (even if you drain the tank) be prepared to small like gas for about 2 days

Thanks for the advice; I'll probably just go stock then. Like I said in my first post, I have to use high octane gas with my high compression, so I need something that won't be eaten away fast too. Should I just order some from Honda or what?
