Default motor swap help plz...

Hi all, I am new to this forum. I got a 98 Civic HX. Within 1-2 months I should have enough money for a motor swap. What would be the best motor to get. The B18C5? Or is something better? Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Depends on what you plan to do. N/A or Boosted?

turbos are too much of a hassle...supers are quick and easy install.

shut the **** up, 94hybridex, how can this dude get a good impression of this wonderful forum if you are going to be a smart ***. This guy is looking for a solid educated opinion on what motor he should swap into his civic. If he wanted an answer like "Get an F20C. That would be tiite.", he could have asked any junior high student on the street. If you have nothing good to say but bullshit, please keep it to yourself. Thanks, and i appologize to the newbie for this guys response.

what the hell is a super?

i think the b18c1 is the best bang for the buck, all you need to do is have the same valvetrain as the type R, port and polish it, and there you have a far more superior head than a type R

It might be a quick and easy install but its still FI and will put allot of stress on the motor. I would think about the long term effects and where you want to be with the car in the future. .

I would swap the engine/trans for a B16A. More reliable than turbo/supercharger and has more potential. I think the B18C and B18C5 will have clearance issues

maybe if you had a daily driver car, like a POS toyota corolla and had the civic as a weekend racer ,then would i think about forced induction

if hondas were meant for FI, then they would come like that from the factory

hellooooo.. clearance issues? WTF. NO. In th epast there were possible clearance issues with a Prelude H series motor, but there are no clearance issues with B series motors.

It sounds like you know what you want, but are not too informed, since you are asking what we think you need, an dstill dont let us know what you will use the car for. You need to explain further your goals for the car and what budget you have, how much you can do yourself work-wise too.
Remember your car may still be slow after a swap if you run on **** tires or huge rims or run it poorly tuned or not tuned at all.

I say the best bet for power is a B20 CRV bottom end with a B16 swap for everything else. Then if you want to add more power with a SC you are set with more displacement already, it will be incredible, but remember how much $$$ you will spend on tuning to get it all to the best possible efficiency and power.

also..... Are you dreaming or is this reality?

To start off with...this is reality. This car is going to be used every day. But I still want a powerful motor. I do intend to do the 1/4 mile with it. I dont want to get another car too. So in all reality, I want to go as fast as possible. I will have around 7-8k within 2 months max. I am not spending any money except for necessities right now.

Anyway, I am just learning about everything right now. I am kind of new to cars, but I like them a lot. I hope this answers your question. If not tell me anything else I need to include.
Thanks for your time.

Oh yea. I forgot to ask. What size rims would be ideal for the 1/4 mile?

well since you have a few months until you have all of the loot, seasrch this site, different forums too and see what everyone is doing and what the new stuff is all about.

tough to get an extra fast car that is also daily driver reliable, but it is possible if you dont go overboard too much with mods/turbo/sc.

1/4 mile and pretty much any performance handling you will want a small diameter wheel/rim but with the most agressive tire for your application.
you might look into a set of drag radials for the fronts when you take ti to the 1/4 mile track. then daily drive on 4 wheels wrapped with yummy AO32R or some Azenis/Pzero/Sp9000, etc...
