1999 - '01 TRANS WARRANTY EXT Campaign - HELP!, Im at 101857
Hi Everyone,
I am looking for advice and direction related to a '00 Accord SE 4-Cyl. 2.3VTEC with AT. Back in late Jan I had a problem with my car and called my mechanic who is a friend of the family. He works out of his own garage at home and is a former Honda Service employee. He replaced the seals on the shafts. Needless to say I was experiencing 4 of the 6 symptoms talked about in the warranty extension letter (that I forgot I received in October '02). That letter extends the 3/36K warranty to 7/100K on the AT. They said they are doing it because of a higher than normal number of AT problems due to defects in material or workmanship beyong the standard warranty.
My dilema is this, my mechanic did not write down the mileage on my receipt. The closest thing I have after the problem occured is a receipt from a battery from a service station listing the mileage at 100,617. Obviously thats over the 100,000 warranty they talk about, however I AM UNDER the 7-year period. I know the warranty concludes when whichever of the two comes first. Can anyone help me get this fixed through this warranty extension campaign? The transmission shop says they need to rebuild the whole AT which is going to cost me an arm and a leg!
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and maybe even helping me out.

Most Honda service dept will extend "service goodwill" a few thousand miles past the warranty time.
If you go to the dealer and are denied, then you can call American Honda customer service, and ask for a review of your case.
Just get to the dealer ASAP.

Thank you for all the replies. I have a piece of news that I will share with the rest of you.
THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION HAS BEEN RE-EXNTENDED. The new warranty term is 7 yrs. 9 mos. or 109,000 miles.
*Note, this extension to the extension (lol) was just released in January. I called the dealership this morning to see about the "good faith" work and they were going to charge me. I called American Honda Motors Customer Service and the lady was very helpful. She took care of notifying the dealer of the "new" warranty terms and got me squared away to get my Accord fixed. I am taking it in tomorrow morning.
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE... (this powerful internet just saved me at least $1,800)
Ol' Grape Ape ain't as dumb as he looks! :-)
