How well does your car run? High mileage...
My 89 hatch has 208,000 miles on it... How high are some of you getting before anything goes wrong. I treat my car pretty well, never race or anything on account of it being slow.
I have read similar posts like this, just curious...
Thanks, DJ.

my old CRX si had ~265-270 before i demolished it.it was bone stock, not even an intake. it ran great then the body rusted around teh motor. when i pulled the motor apart is was clean as a whistle. must have been those italian tune ups

215k, runs pretty strong.. i cant wait to put a more potent motor.. maybe within the next three months, or whenever the motor goes KABUM.. either way i have an LS-vtec motor ready to go in my lovely ed6 ..
91 si hatch with 254k on it smoke a little bit when i floor it and seals leaking oil a little bit. other than that it still haul ***...
190 K, rebuilt about 40K ago (before I got it, my shop did it) gets 37 MPG city, 42 MPG Hwy. No problems at all. Just did a coolant flush and thermostat for ***** and giggles.
198k miles on my 89 Si (CRX) and still running strong. Only leak is currently coming from the AC compressor. I replaced the O2 sensor with a Bosch unit, and I eventually started getting upwards of 42mpg regularly. Now if only I could get rid of all those annoying rattles...
I rebuilt a d15 with about 225 k on it...when I took it apart motor looked good I just wanted to make sure it was reliable for my drive cross country the bearings where just about to start wearing through though and it needed those bearings other than that the internals looked great....so I would say around that many miles a rebuild is about due otherwise you risk spinning a bearing
Thanks for all the replies. I know honda's are very reliable it just worries me that some day something will go wrong and I will be stuck without a car and stuff. My hatch has 208,00 like I said, new started, new axles and I just do new things to it all the time. I replaced the thermostat, flushed cooling system, replaced tranny fluid for the hell of it and whatever. Thanks again! Makes me proud to drive an awesome car!
200k. other then my distributor rotor screw backing itself out and causing my car to break down a couple times, its been pretty good to me. used locite on it to keep it in place. doing coolant flush and axle replacement this weekend. debating wether i should buy another motor and tranny, and rebuild it (would be first honda rebuild) and swap them out. needs valves done too i think. clutch is slipping.
mine has 176000 on it, runs like a champ. tranny is going bad though, so im going to do an auto to manual swap. picked up the pedal assembly this weekend, and im getting a free dx tranny from a friend. all i need is the linkage, a shifter and clutch cable and im good to go
I had almost 300k, valve seals were going, smoked at high rpm, but still ran strong and got 40mpg on the highway.
I have a beater automatic EG with a Z6 that's at 220K, and I've done almost NO repairs on the car. Timing belt, axle, brakes, oil changes and that's it.
I've also had an EG with 117K that spun a bearing cause the previous owner didn't change the oil in 70K+ miles.
Maintain it well and it'll treat you well.
I also keep a complete swap in a storage unit for my EG's just in case. I found it cheap, and I'll use it when I have to.

'86 Si w/ 289k as of this minute. Took it to Nashville and back this past weekend (310 mi. round trip no problems). Goes autocrossing once a year and to the dragstrip 3 times a year. Owned it for 14 years, bought it with 109k on the odom for $3150 in '93. My first and only car. It eats alternators for breakfast. Been through one transmission, two clutches, one starter, one timing belt, 2 sets of rear wheel bearings, 1 set of front wheel bearings, shocks and struts all around, one tie rod end, a few axles, and one driver side lower ball joint (THAT was fun when it broke!--not). When the A/C compressor went bad, I found an excellent opportunity for weight reduction. The engine is ALL ORIGINAL except the seals, spark plugs, and VC gasket!!! Yeah, its a badass.

88 civic with 133k.....car smokes when idling too long
i would say 85% are city miles...really hard on the engine but never left me on the side of the road.
its had a new starter, axles, radiator and your normal tune up stuff. original engine+tranny get 36+ in the highway still

I just picked up a 91 civic hatch with 204xxx miles on it and the thing has been extremely well taken care of. They have all of the maintenance records since 1991 when they bought the car brand new. It runs extremely well. Slow as ***** haha but it gets me around. Body is real rusted up though.
89 civic hatch dx, 158k on the body, 40k on the engine i put in same engine but lower miles, i had the original engine smoking and the compression was way off replaced at 130k miles, and the tranny was grinding around the same time,
in the last 30k miles ive went through
3 clutches ($1,200 total, i had shops install them)
4 pedal brackets ($400, i installed them)
3 alternators ($150)
1 battery ($50)
1 starter ($50)
low mileage tranny and engine put in it ($1,100)
so been really expensive for me to drive my car the last 2 years, around $3,000
