heater fan is LOUD
when i put my heat past 2 i believe it is loud as crap sounds like coming from the pass side of the dash...how do i get to it to look at it? any write ups on this at all?
you need to get the dash off which will expose all the heater units/ducts, the fan is at the passenger side so its probably that. not sure how much you can take them apart, might be easier to get one from a scrappy or somethin
It depends which car you're talking about. (3 in your sig) Some of them are wicked easy...remove the glove box and the blower motor's right there. Undo 3 nuts and pull it out. Others need you to build a space shuttle to get to it (seems that way, anyways).
If you find you need help with a DA, I've got a parts car at home and can take a look. IM me if that's the case.

The blower motor is the black unit at the passenger's feet, held on by 3 screws and has a hose hooked to it. The noise is either the motor itself or the fan attached to it. Autopart stores sell a generic heater blower motor that fits our cars for around $40, then you swap the fan off your old unit to the new one.
I have gotten lucky by spraying PB blaster (spray lubricant) into the blower motor (via the cool air tube attached to the motor housing) and my blower motor keeps working after 300K miles.

Yes, for about a day it will smell, you could spray at night before you go in for the evening. Not only did it unlock my fan, but the fan blew harder for each setting than before.
