Tail light retro....95% done
I first started with this: (basically twice as big as a Civic tail)

Some dremmel here and dremmel there:

Purchased a LED unit and cut of the top and bottom tabs to make it as skinny as possible:

Still need to do some more trimming and basically will get this:

I might have to buy the left LED unit and flip the two units around. Since the LED units are taller on one side compared to the other. Im thinking the taller part of the LED unit will go closest to the outside of our tails since it is wider at that point and will create more flex on the housing.

So after spending most of the day cutting and fitting I think I basically have this done
Basically had to cut most of the LED unit to fit it in. From the red line back, no longer there

I have to do something about the side light, since the LED unit has one also. The little gap on the bottom left also needs to be filled. I might end up doing a small strip of the accord reflector, but not sure. Gap is there cause the step down in the housing for the clear diffuser to sit there. Clear diffuser isnt used with the LED's

How it looks with out the red lense

Close up of the gaps I have to fill

I've seen this and a few other LED retros...I bet the time and fabrication it takes will make it cost a lot mroe than you're willing to pay, and maybe more hassle than profit than he's willing to do on the side

Yeah, too much trouble to do and I dont really have the time. Just on weekends. When cutting the LED unit I almost cut though one of the leads to the board in the unit. If i had cut that I would have blown $100.
Right now im at around $400 for parts. I wont be doing any more, I dont think. Not that my work isnt good quality but I dont think its good enought to charge people $$ for it.

Well your time and effort isn't wasted, it looks great, especially for a first time. And it's good you know your limitations- too many people in the aftermarket car parts sector that overextend their skills or time, and the result is poor quality or failed business.
