Default anyone ever had problems using an ebay head gasket?

alright I am going to change my head and all the gaskets in a few weeks here, and I bought a complete head set on ebay for $65 including the head gasket. this is for a 92 LS motor, and its the eristic brand. I don't have tons of money to throw around and I am still questioning whether or not this head gasket will be okay, so I am looking for more opinions... but with some evidence to back stuff up!

has anyone actually had problems using these head gaskets? or is it worth the extra $70 for a Honda one?

thanks!

Why dont you find a honda wholesaler. Google "OEM HONDA PARTS" or "OEM honda part numbers" I dont think headgaskets were $135.

you are right they are $70 retail plus tax, but my friend can get me a 20% discount.

nevertheless it does not answer my question.

well $65 for a no-name vs $70 for a honda? why didnt you buy the honda one in the 1st place? I would get the honda one...well iduno. If your car has a lot of miles, and its just your DD, just use the no name one. If you're planning on keeping it for a long time, get the honda one. How bad could the no name one be...right (famous last words)

no problems...it's a head gasket. If you are worried then spray it with copper head gasket spray to help it seal 'better'

Personally, I would spend the money on OEM parts over questionable quality ebay parts. You get what you pay for and eBay parts prove it.

i dont think its a spray, but more like a caulk that comes in a tube and dries to a seal. my friend used it on his headers but forget what it's called ...

I wouldn't use the copper spray! Thats an easy way to blow the HG quickly. I'm not saying it won't hold up, but on a Honda you should put the HG on bone dry.

i just used the copper spray cuz i knew that I would be tearing down the motor under 50k miles for the turbo build. it's a lot easier to clean copper spray off of the motor than the black coating of the headgasket. I'm going to use an actual copper gasket for the turbo build.
