RSX does not engage VTEC
lost my license due to stupidity so my rsx-s has not been driven frequently for about 4 months now. I bumped my car to get let it idle for 15 min......when i reved the car it bounces at 5500. Any suggestions to a solution. thank you.
Why would you want to engage Vtec when not in gear and not moving?
The ECU does not let you rev over 5500 when vehicle speed is not above 5 mph. It is perfectly normal.

That site will explain to you what VTEC is.
If your car has vtec, then yes, it will engage. VTEC is basically the samething as ZTEC, VVTL, Zanos (although, the zanos system from BMW is more advanced as it dosent just have 1 set stage it goes to, but rather, the zanos system has a few). It just wont engage in neutral at a standstill.

An automatic: you stick it in D, and press the "go" pedal. The car goes, like, with magic.
A manual: You clutch in, shift to first gear, roll onto the throttle while letting off the clutch, and THEN the car goes. When the revs get high again, you clutch in, and shift into 2nd gear, then third, and so on.

an automatic is an automatic. a manual, you have a clutch and normally move gears in and out yourself. There is also the paddles with a clutch that would technically constitute as a manual, but u normally see those in expensive cars.
They make automatics with a different number of gears. they used to make and use 3 gear automatics. You can find those in older cars and cars such as geo metro's. Currently, some cars have as many as 7 gears in automatics, but u will only usually find them in high-end luxury cars.

the answer to the reason the rev doesnt pass 5.5 grams when stationary is stock two step ... your ecu is just trying to over do the engine and just cause youve idled it for 15 mins doesnt mean its warm ... anyway just be glad you have the two step ... most people buy that ...
