Do you even know what vtec is, how it works?

IF you do you would realize that simply pushing a button isn't going to acctivate vtec properly and you will more than likely cause harm to the motor by engaging it improperly...

everyone is laughing at you b/c it looks like the halfwit didn't do much more than interrupt the vtec solenoid or oil pressure switch wire with a switch.

this wouldn't allow vtec to engage earlier than normal, just allow you to turn on the ability for it to engage when you choose (of course at or above the ecu's vtec engagement).

you don't gain any performance since it doesn't engage at lower rpm...actually he's probably holding out on engaging vtec with his "button" until after then engine normally allows it.

if he rigged it in conjunction with a vtec controller that lowered the engagement point he might effectively be able to click it on and off at a lower rpm...but that's dumb, just use the vtec controller.

the button looks shitty, car looks like ***, backwards-*** idea.

I would think that it would be plausible if you linked a video of it already done...
The point of them laughing at you and calling you stupid is because with the switch it doesn't supply the right amount of extra fuel used in the fuel that should be used when VTEC is engaged, with the switch it just turns on the bigger cam lobes without more fuel and therefore makes for a crappy VTEC and you can notice a huge difference between one on a switch and one properly hooked up and working from the sensors and ECU, and yea if not engaged where it supposed to be in the RPM range it will kill performance also. So therefore I won't even go into how to actually do it(it is simple though). I know someone that used to have a GSR EG that he bought like that and it was whack. As implied by everyone else, just don't do it.

Yep. I at one point hooked up my vtec solenoid while obd0 (just to see if it did anything). After going obd1 with a p28, i can tell you for sure that it's nothing like that.

 

I gotta say it. If you are on a budget and had an OBD0 d16a6 and just happened to have a vtec head, you might want to do this. Another way is to wire it from a tach shift light. Correct me if I am wrong.

If you don't have the cash and wanted to, it would work. Right? so leave them alone.

It would work, but it's not any faster (actually slower in my experience) and just makes noise.

And an rpm switch is what you're probably thinking of hooking it up to.
