Default '09-'10 Prelude?

hey just got back from the cleveland auto show last night and was talking to some honda reps. about the prelude & s2k and they told me that next year will be the last year for the s2k to make room for a new "prelude" that will have a supposedly different name this time around, they also said honda has been taking a look at AWD capabilities lately. I AM NOT sure if this is legit info or not, i've heard a LOT of rumors just like everybody else, and i don't think honda will release anything for a while even if it is true, but i just thought i'd share for the fun of it, so keep your fingers crossed.

Actually there is some truth to this. What the skinny was at my dealership was the prelude may return with the "prelude" name. V6 6speed 300HP AWD based on the new Acura RL chassis.

As far as the S2K goes I heard inline 6 cyl bad *** car price range around 48K

Who know I don't beilve anything untill it happens. But.... I do have to sayhaving a 300HP AWD prelude would be a kick *** DD. Hell who am I kidding Id just turbo that bitch also

It was a joke, but no matter how you look at it Preludes and Accords had a lot in common you can't deny that.

Sorry to break the bad news guys but all it would take for an Accord of the same year to hang next to a Prelude in a road course would be a suspension upgrade...

the prelude is never coming back, there is a reason why honda stopped making it, it was not popular. and if it does comeback its not going to have the name prelude. i do believe they will make a coupe with the rl chassis with awd-sh

Mr.Knowitall checking in...

You're right they are two completely different cars that have nothing in common....OH WAIT WHAT'S THIS!?!?!?!

PS. I own a 2001 Prelude and I've driven many Accords I know what both their capabilities are first hand.

i would have to go with classifieds here

accords and preludes are similar as hell

the prelude s feels just like a 1997 accord ex

the 5th gen prelude feels just like 98+ accord with H22 swap

but nothing feels like a 4th gen si-vtec...nothing...
maybe the 1997 ex 2dr with h22 type s swap, but still, the interior just does not feel similar. accord feels like what it is, a family car

although it cannot be denied that 4th gen ludes and 94-97 accords have quite a bit of similar parts, which shows some commonalities when you look at their roots. heck, even most of the bushings are the same. and the fact that they use similar engines...f and h, swappable trannies, blah blah.

dude we are dealing with Honda... it's like ******* grown up Legos LOTS of chassis can share parts with little to no modification.

If I throw a H22a in a Ek hatch is that Ek hatch a prelude no...

Cars get there names from the chassis code most, if the accords and Preludes were the "same car" as your trying to state Honda would have a BB1 BB4 BB6 accord... but they don't

If a "prelude" does come back its not going to be a prelude its gonna be something differently named and it probably wont have true AWD it will have that SH-AWD which I don't really like. It's cool and all but just give us a damn LSD and real AWD already Honda!

Have you raced or been in one of the newer 2006 6speed v6 models? They eat ludes for breakfast and look good doing it. haha

But honestly don't deny it the Accord and Preludes did have tons in common, but of course the Prelude was slightly faster and looked much better because it was built to be more of a sport coupe.

If the prelude comes back it'll be in the luxury sports catergory and I know a lot of us cannot afford that. Looking to be in the range of 32-40K I bet.

For that price most of us will just get evos and STI's, most of us, not all of us. So I bet they'll market the mid 30's crew that like G35 coups, 350Z, and such. I like to see it but I hope the body is not bulky like the new RL or even an Accord. The prelude has always had a great body because it was a sharp/flat bodied car. Even the 4th gen with all the curves, still had a similar body shape looking from the side view.

Inline 6 S2K....wow if they beef up the rear ends, people can just turbo it, this can compete with supras as the highway street terrors.

The prelude will not make a return. Make no mistake Honda will release a sport coupe but it will share next to nothing in common with the last generation Prelude.

I'd like for you to supply an explanation on how the Honda Prelude and Honda Accord can share the same repair manual but not be close to the same car... Your analogy of an EK taking a H22 and still not being a Prelude is stupid because then they would share nothing in common besides being a fwd with the same engine/drivetrain where as the Accord and Prelude managed to share the exact same repair manual...

I own both a 2000 Accord and a 2000 Prelude. Chassis is nearly identical....both very rigid. I agree, you drop the suspension about an inch and give it an H22 and you will have a slightly bigger, much roomier Prelude.

And if you want to line them up stock for stock...I'm down.

this is true, they are quite fast

i was sitting in my friend's slightly modified 06 automatic v6 vs some n00b in his 5th gen and we took it like by a few cars

don't know how it happened, maybe the driver sucked or something.

bench racing, but still

I have been working for Honda since the late 90's I have worked on more preludes and accords in 1 month then most people have in there lives. I have owned and accord and various preludes. Yes there are similarities but that doesn't mean they are the same. If you think you can fix a prelude or accord with a real troubleshooting problem the same manual your sadly mistaken. Wiring diagrams are totally different from year to year in accords as well as preludes. So trying to fix the same car say... a there is a 98-02 body style accord and you have a problem in the 98 accord and the same problem in the 02. They are very similar in body style but can use the same manual ETM (Electrical Troubleshooting Manual) to fix them NO!

P.S. I run 1/4 mile with my prelude your prelude couldn't compete with me on my worse day. I know of a certain prelude owner who runs auto X who feels the exact same way I do and would smoke you in the turns also. But I guess since you know so much about these cars and I apparently know nothing. That's why your 2001 prelude is known all across the US for you being so smart. While I am just a Internet babbling moron who doesn't know a thing. for Mr.Knowitall
