ok so one of my buddies just recently bought himself a crx, but he had me buy it for him, so that way he would like reimburse me, anyway so I purchase the car from this guy, it looked clean and for the most part sounded like it ran just fine (if that makes any sense) so It comes time to drive it over to my friends house and about half way between towns it starts making this weird like loose rattle noise every time I would accelerate, frankly it was bugging the **** outa me, I didn’t know how to go about it but I was wondering if by any chance somebody knew what it could have been?

 

can you be a little bit more specific? coming from under the car or around the engine area/ maybe a loose header or the cov3er to the cat..

Exhaust Heat Sheild loose, or exhaust rubbing on it

 

well it for sure didnt sound like it was coming from the engine, it sounded like somewhere around the middle of the car, like some one had tossed a penny down the exhaust and its just sitting there lol i dunno how to be any more specific about it hahaha but thanks anyway

 

Probably a heat shield where bolts rusted off.

Yeah I had that problem but I mostly noticed it at idle (exhaust was too loud otherwise). I just ripped the heat shield off and now there is no noise.

 

Yep, I kinda have that problem too. I wouldn't rip that heat-shield off though. It has it's purpose of deflecting heat away from the car. I'd just bend it to not be in the way, IMO
