Default Need opinion on next car from all u ITR ppl!

Well, im considering selling my itr once spring rolls around here in ontario. there are only a couple cars im considering buyin, and im lookin to spend around $25,000 to about low low $30,000's CDN$.

i am looking at the following cars:

2003+ lexus is300
2004 subaru wrx sti
2002+ audi s4

my plan is to keep whichever car relatively stock, except some nice coilovers, maybe a clean lip, and some nicer rims, thats about it. so far, ive only test drove the is300, and i drove an s4 before, and i plan to test drive the sti as well.

any input or advantages/disadvantages would be great, as i know some of you guys went from itr to sti and other cars as well.

thanks!

i wouldnt trade an R for any of those but i guess the sti would be my choice.

Why no evo choice?

There is no way I'd buy an IS300 after driving the new ones (IS250/IS350). Even the IS250 is quicker than the IS300's. IS250 6 speed with the sport package is a great car for the money.

cause we dont get the evo here in canada

i like the stylin of the is300 over the newer is250 or 350, they look too big in my eyes and they are out of my budget range as bein the main reason, i dont want a huge 4dr car, just an average size with more power and all the toys.

All of the above are great cars but I would go with an WRX Sti.
I'm actually planning on getting one as my daily driver

Audi S4s ... maintaince and repairs, be prepared to open up your wallet..

Lexus IS300, slow, done up corolla.

WRX STi... Sick stupid fast car, just as reliable as a Type R, bulletproof trans and engine, and easily upgraded to 400+hp... AWD, all season... etc etc, I can keep going ?

STi for the win!

for 30-35gs, you should also look into a e46 m3

I agree with ITRDC2R...Audi's can be a big expense when it comes to maintenance and repairs. I prefer the new is250 or is350 over the is300. the sti would be my choice. It's reliable, fun to drive, AWD and being that you live in canada that might be a plus. STI is my vote.

Those new Lexus are also growing on me. Have you thought about a used BMW M3?

I hang out with a lot of the Subaru tuners here in Cincinnati. The STi is stupid fast with Cobb Stage II tuning. And trust me, if you bought an STi you wouldn't be buying new rims or a new lip. You'd be buying 3" down / up pipes, turbo back exhaust, and an access port to throw you at 350hp and 375 torque (I believe those are the numbers for a proper Cobb Stage II) They're very simple to mod and you can get incredible horsepower out of them without having to touch the stock turbo!

Yeah, with the STi, you don't wanna touch the wheels or suspension, just the motor, it has mad potential! And like LunchboxZT said, it can be stupid fast!

And IS300 is slow, but it's got a nice style to it.

And isn't an S4 way more than that?

I'd get the STi though, just because I saw what that car can do

thats what i wanted to hear about, the sti's reliability, so most of you guys say its as good as a honda? i know that the is300 is very reliable as ive talked to many ppl about that car, but im not very informed bout the sti. im not lookin to achieve crazy hp #'s here, i just want a pretty quick, daily car, with 4 doors, and reliable and parts arent that crazy expensive as you guys said like the s4.

thanks for the help so far

I've heard from several people that after 100 000km's, Subaru's start to suck. That's the main reason that stopped me from getting a WRX.

IS300 is doodoo in stock trim.

S4 is a nice car, but Audi $$ maint.

STi is definitely the best of the bunch listed.

AWD IS250 is a nice car.

I know guys in the states with 130-150k MILES on their STis and they are still going like champs..

I think they are on par with reliability as the type r, maybe even better..

Get an 05 THO! they have a few upgrade then the 04.. PLUS, you have warranty until 2010..

I just got my Type R not long ago, but I think ill be getting an STi sept/oct.. i just got stuck in my driveway TWIEC already.

Lexus IS300, slow, done up corolla. I agree might as well get a damn civic although I do like the styling of this car also. As for the IS 250 and 350 both except for styling go drive them, you'll see

WRX STi... Sick stupid fast car, just as reliable as a Type R, bulletproof trans and engine, and easily upgraded to 400+hp... AWD, all season... etc etc, I can keep going ? I guess this would be my vote since you cant get an Evo. Go test drive one though you might be let down on the test drive, as I was
STi for the win!

well i pretty much agree with everyone so ill just pick a post and add my comments to it

i guess i could also add the a 2002+ bmw e39 (540i) the 6speed of course, it also falls into that price range, and sounds like it has good performance #'s as well, but like the audi, it might be $$$$ for maintenance as well..

Head over to http://www.nasioc.com and ask some of the guys there what they think of reliability past 100,000 miles. An acquaintance of mine in the Subaru club here has a 400+ HP STi that just hit 110,ooo miles and is holding strong after the usual maintenance, He is however working on his 4th clutch, but I think thats from all the rally cross driving he does
