Default quick question guys

well i blew my 94 gsr head and bought a new 95 jdm gsr head for a fair price.....got the block rebalance and everything.......question is should i get the head rebalance while its apart or some mild port and polish.....want some power but still want to be able to pass smog......my plans for the motor is to put type r internals with type r cams with either usdm type r pistons or jdm.....not really trying to build a n/a monster but like a mild build for daily driven and to have some fun.....also wondering if my stock block would be able to handle the mild port and polish head with jdm type r internals.....any body that has done this some dyno, and pix would be great.......also wat would the CR be with the stock jdm gsr head with my usdm gsr block just curious thx.......

I am not sure how much porting you will be able to perform, and still pass emissions in CA. As for the block and head questions; a JDM GS-R head is the same as a USDM GS-R head, therefore your compression ratio will remain unchanhed (until you get different pistons, or mill the head, etc...).

I think a simple deburring of the head, along with the type-r internals that you desire would make for a fun setup.

Stock GS-R head, with USDM type-r (p73-A0) pistons will yield 10.83:1 compression ratio
Stock GS-R head, with JDM type-r (p73-00) pistons will yield 11.36:1 compression ratio

ic lol thx for the info any more would be great.....well from a few shops around here in cali they all said a mild port and polish would open up the head at the same time still be able to pass smog.....iono if that fact is true or not but if any one has info about that would be great if i can't pass then there are still other ways ahahaha
