Default sway bar recomended?

just to start off this is kind of a dumb question but here goes. I have a 97 base model droped on kyb agx's, eibach pro kit springs with front and rear upper strut tower bars, and a camber kit. It has been feeling lately as if my back end sways or almost wants to break loose on turns at high speeds, but this has been since I added about 100+ lbs. of audio equipment in the rear. I have thought about taking it all out but I would like to keep it. I know that the stock sway bar is pretty thick but does it sound like it is time for an upgrade? If so I have heard that changing the endlinks is a must, and any recomendations on brand and size, thanks for your time.

p.s. sorry for such a dumb question, I just need some input.

i believe a front sway bar will correct your problem... correct me if im wrong. Try taking your rear sway bar out and see if it changes anything (just to test it, dont leave it like that).

I'll give that a shot when I have a chance. I hear about everybody with preludes upgrading their rear sway bar and not touching the front. Do you recomend the front because of the way my car is handling, or from the wieght in the trunk? do you think it is related?

You could try to put your strut settings to about mid give or take in the front and then make your rear softer than the front cause it sounds like your rear is really stiff. I'm not too sure it would necessarily stop your rear from sliding around much as it corrects understeer, but try making your rear struts softer.

I wish i could get my *** to swing out lol.. understeer plagues us all. ya if you stiffen up the front settings it will understeer more.. I have the same combo suspension on mine and it does affect the handling. remember that if you upgrade the sway bars the i think the difference in stiffness is multiplied by the forth power.. so a slightly bigger bar will still make a big difference.

Up-sizeing the rear would be going the wrong direction if you want to stop the back from swinging out.

Just un hook one of the rear swaybar endlinks, and I don't think it will clank around. If you "problem" get better then you know bigger will make it worse.

btw: I broke my OEM rear bar and havn't ran it for almost a year. Its not a big deal.

disconnect your front and run around like that.......then think about how bad your rear end swings out.....

Don't bother disconnecting anything, you may hurt your ride, if anything=more body roll. With all that audio weight in your trunk, you need to play w/your shock settings a'lil, as I did w/my Koni's. If you're understeering, you need to tighten up the rear, oversteer; vice-versa...etc.......blah, blah, blah.....Wasn't this discussed before? In other words, don't waste $ on a front sway bar on a FWD car!

I have a Tanabe Rear, it works well, but overall unless you have the extra money so spend, I do not think it is worth it.

As far as the frot, I do not thint there are any on the market (5th gen) that are worth it. I had a ST on the front and it had fit issues, plus it made no difference in the handleing anyway.

Jeez, take the 100lbs out of the trunk for starters. You want the stereo crap, but you also want good handling? Can't have both...

IMO the best rear bar is Progress.

I know, I didn't even really want a system but I am an installer and I also got huge discounts on the products, otherwise I wouldn't have it at all.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by E-Money &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">better tires</TD></TR></TABLE>

I have BF goodrich G-forces that I put on over the summer with plenty of tread. I had thought about the tires being a problem but I thought they were descent. I hate to change the topic at hand but are the tires really the problem?

yeah... you know it did cross my mind but I had someone else drive my car and they felt it also, it also seems more noticeable on right hand turns. Maybe this helps.

you already have the suspension.. i say play with your settings.. stiffen up the front if you are oversteering.. or soften up the back haha. or you can just try to drift yur lude.. if that's possible? j/k.. if you really want a sway bar, get a front. I can't remember what the stock diameter is.. i have heard both 23 and 25mm.. but I think it's 23? sumone correct me if i'm wrong.. but ST sells a 25mmbar which would be ~150% stiffer than stock (assuming the bar is 23mm) and Neuspeed sells a 28mm one which would be ~220% stiffer than stock.

Yeah don't disconnect anything. Just go out and waste money to make your problem worse. Or if your an installer build an infinite baffle setup. That should be less then half the weight, but I hope you get a discount on labor too, because that will take a while.

yeah I don't exactly want to waste my money, that is why I asked first. I think that I will try and paly with the settings like you guys recomended. As far as the tires go I got them because they seemed alright for the price and I didn't want anything super soft because I usually leave town about once a month for a 300 mile round trip. Any tire recomendations, there are just too many to chose from. thanks.

A rear sway bar is never a bad idea.

Progress adjustable is the way to go.
