cel 21, no vtec after swap
i just finished up my h22a swap and everything runs fine, however i have no vtec.. it will rev up to almost 7 k and as it gets there it turns on a CEL. code 21 (vtec solenoid) to be exact. when i turn the car off and back on, the cel is gone.. it only pops when vtec doesnt ha.. i wired the vtec sol. into A4 which is the green wire with a yellow stripe, and i ran a jumper to ground it to the battery.. i for the life of me cant figure out why it wont engage..anyone have an idea of whats goin on.. im pretty sure the solenoid isnt bad because the motor has less than 30k on it.. right now the only thing i think it could be is that maybe the pin isnt making connection in the ecu but wouldnt that throw a CEL the moment it started up???

NOt necessarily, it might not come up until the soleniod is triggered
when your rpm's are in vtec range.
Double check all of your wiring.
If that doesn't work, clean the soleniod screen.

He'd have to jack the car up because vtec will not engage in neutral no matter how
high you rev it.
Be dam careful doing that or use a lift.

also try this. unplug the selinoid. take a wire touch the wire were it makes contact with the pin. take the other end of the wire. keep tapping it on the posative side of the battery. u should here the vtec selinoid clicking. if it does its good. if it dont click while tapping it is a bad..
all i get when i try jumping the solenoid is sparkage.. i cant hear ****.. i tried jumping it with a nine volt battery and i still got nothing.. i even tried plugging my hondata s300 to see if maybe the ecu was damaged and it didnt do nothing either other than not idle at all and throw a cel when vtec should have kicked. any other ideas? only thing i can think of, is either the sensor attached to the green plug is bad.. or i dunno after that.. also i checked the screen and it looks brand new. made sure the solenoid went up and down and wasnt blocked, and all was well there too...
